All I know is that we receive "points" at work as recognition that can be redeemed for merchandise.

We are taxed on those points as they are considered income which is why some opt out of the program.

But I guess I need to read into that.

I don't know about any points and stuff like that. I do know for a fact that unless there is a taxing statute and an Implementing Regulation than it is moot. That is what the Law is. I always get things like that in writing directly from the taxing authorities. You would be surprised what they can and cannot tax(unless the get you to volunteer via forms that don't pertain to you. But I digress. I am not an attorney, nor is this legal advice. Seek counsel and as always do your own research.

I find knowing the Freedom of Information Act to be very useful. Especially when it comes to Federal forms, etc. Also the Privacy act, and finally Holdings from the SCOTUS.

      best regards

You're confusing anything you're talking about with income tax.

Very different subjects. Income, regardless of how it's earned, is very much subject to being taxed.

Edit: If I recall you're from Texas where there is no income tax which may very explain the confusion here.

No confusion at all. Again, the "regardless of how it is earned" is simply not true sir. It can be any state, the same Law applies. There must be a Implementing regulation and a taxing statute(Directly from the IRS and SCOTUS). Don't take my word for it, you can request it specifically to you under the FOIA.

You can PM me if you like. I can see how what I wrote my be a bit confusing.

          best regards

Appreciate the offer but no thanks. Throwing out the FOIA tells me what I need to know.
