Re: The Death of Customer Service...
I actually received some bad customer service recently. Well they just had a mix up or something and it was eventually remedied.
Purchase expensive TV and due to it being a pretty big investment I order the "white glove" service at $50. I just didn't want the liability of removing the TV from the packaging which I've read isn't the easiest. White glove service involves them setting everything up for you and removing the debris. Standard shipping is free BTW.
So delivery day comes and I'm really excited. Get the call that delivery is going to happen soon and the guy gets there, alone. I'm like "well how is he going to set this thing up alone?".
So he is nice and wheels the TV into my place and then is like "welp see ya later!".
So I stare at the box and there's no way in hell I'm waiting to set it up. I do it alone and am nervous as hell the entire time. Takes me about 10 minutes and it's all set up and there were no problems.
I called Samsung and they refunded the white glove fee.
Not blaming the guy for just dropping it off there had to have been miscommunication somewhere, but it definitely wasn't on my end.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: The Death of Customer Service...
I must be lucky, because I've never had any issues with my cell carrier other than maybe the sales people being a little too pushy as far as getting me to buy extra things, but such is life in that arena. My cable company can eat a bag of ***** though.Comment

I've only ever had issues with Comcast. Them charging me for stuff I either don't have or was directly told wouldn't be charged for, so then I have to call and get it settled.Comment

Re: The Death of Customer Service...
I can honestly say that I rarely get terrible customer service. Verizon has been great every time I've needed them. Although it sometimes takes talking to a few people. Time Warner cable has been awesome. They have gotten me new promo packages every time my current one's end. Sony has been good, as has Target.
The only real issues that I ever had is at Walmart. There have been a number of times I've had questions - mostly in electronics - where the employee had no clue what I was talking about and that's because Walmart tends to put people in departments they know absolutely nothing about. Which is stupid, but its walmart and I don't expect good customer service there.
I've had great experiences lately. Chili's to go gave me a near empty chili, posted a pic on FB and ended up with a gift card (they showed me all food there except the chili for some reason, and I didn't question it).
Verizon has called me up before to see if they can get my bill down.
Cox (cable) has been willing to get me deals that bring my bill down as well.
I don't threaten to cancel, just say it like it is when it's too expensive.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: The Death of Customer Service...
Yea we haven't had many issues really either. Just the usual up sell. We have Fios and had to call and dump the movie channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax) because we really weren't watching enough of them to justify paying for them. So we called and told them to remove them from our package. Then the night after we are looking for something to watch we noticed we lost like 6 extra channels that we already had prior to cancelling. So we called the next day and got the problem solved in like 15-20 minutes and got a $15 discount for losing those channels.Comment

Re: The Death of Customer Service...
Comcast phone customer service has ranged from completely inept and terrible to shockingly good.
Their social media was awesome.
Best experience of customer service I had was Enterprise. I screwed up everything from the reservation to the payment and they went above and beyond to help me out and hook me up. I wrote in about how positive that was. Seen the same guys since and they're mad cool.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: The Death of Customer Service...
I had an issue with PlayStation. I swiped my debit for a game and immediately removed my info. That apparently puts a hold on your account by PlayStation. I called to have it removed because I wanted to swipe for another game and it kept blocking me. Guy said I had a hold and he emailed me some random support site on inputting my info correctly. That annoyed me because that was not the issue. Just remove my hold.
The guy ultimately sent me a link to Amazon to buy prepaid cards in the meantime. I was pretty annoyed and realized I was getting nowhere so I just moved on with life.Comment

The Death of Customer Service...
This is on the customer, you just don't want to admit you're being lazy and want to complain. Also, chat services are a terrible way to try to get service or solutions. Call and talk to a human.
I had an issue this week with Amazon. I ordered the PS4 Slim at $269 with a free year of PS+ and then on Friday it lowered to $249 still with PS+.
Well Amazon doesn't price match but still didn't feel it was completely fair. (I didn't realize they didn't price match themselves until I called). The rep I spoke with wasn't very helpful, more so because his hands were tied with Amazon policies but told me to speak with a supervisor. Which I did and expressed my frustrations. As I told him, with knowing this policy it makes me feel almost at hostage with ordering in case a price drops and they should have a 3 day price match for Prime at least to cover the 2 days shipping and day ordered or received depending on timing. I never raised my voice. Never called them names. Just explained my feelings on the matter. The manager heard me out and said while they can't price match at all he liked my suggestion and appreciated while I was frustrated, "I spoke to him like an adult". He then gave me a $20 credit. And several times expressed that he wrote down my idea and will provide it to superiors and marketing because he said he agreed with it completely.
Now nothing will probably happen but we had a very nice discussion. I got my $20 difference back and wished him a very Merry Christmas as he did me. He even sent me a follow up email detailing my idea and what I had said to him.
End of the story, I was polite and explained what I felt. I figured it was worth a shot. And I got exactly what I wanted. Amazon's service is always excellent so I wasn't surprised.

Re: The Death of Customer Service...
Nah I got PSVR Friday so I've been quite busy playing it. I've made my arguments here already, any more and it's just pointless to continue to make the same arguments again and again.
Besides, the point of this thread was never this specific incident but rather the fact that most people expect customer service to be horrible and they put up with it.
In that sense I feel like my point has completely been made by the fact that so many of you choose to focus on my actions while giving the business a complete pass.

Re: The Death of Customer Service...
I don't think you really had a valid point and from reading this thread it doesn't sound like many empathize with you.
It's not their customer service you don't like, it's their policies and procedures.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives
