A nice guy then called me and explained this whole situation that they have a batch of next years brand new CFX which comes with a digital screen and other additions I can't include here but all in all it was a $80 step up. He said "How about I issue that refund and send you out one of these instead for you going through this!"

It was one of the nicest, chill, customer service experiences ever.

    Worst Customer Service Experience:

I have two of these and several of you guys who read the PS4 forum would know the first one. My PS4 got hacked, guy took control of my PS4 remaotely and gained entry even when I had two factor auth enabled. Dealing with Sony felt like a lost cause, my dog makes bigger decisions(where should I spin and **** today) than these reps are allowed to. So much red tape that it limits the customer service rep from doing anything but frustrate the customer. All in all it got handled but took 10 days or so for my bank account to be refunded the money he stole.

Last one just happened. I love my credit union Advancial, BUT I had the worst experience with one of their loan members. So I went in to get approved to finance a 4 wheeler for hunting season. I told the load rep, I want to finance right around $100 a month so where does that come to total wise. She says $3,000, to which I thought was perfect spot for a decent bike.

So I set out test riding different bikes and finally found one I wanted. Guy says best he will do is $3,200 and I felt that was a fair price so I contacted the rep to see if that would pose any problem to change it to 3,200. Nope no issue at all.

So I go in, get the money, head over and purchase the bike. The rep calls me the next day and says, I forgot to get you to sign some paper work. Ok, no problem I'll be over in a few. When I get there, she informs me the total owed will be $3,485....so at this point I'm lost. WHY??? So she then gives me this run around excuse which I'm still confused of to this day. Because the original amount requested was 3,000 and then was bumped up to 3,200 that they would only cover 90% and I had to cover the 10%. So I'm stumped, it doesn't make a lick of sense to me and the amount now is $200 more than they gave me so I'm just getting more mad since none of it makes sense.

So she then says, let me make a call and see if we can get this removed........PLEASE DO! So quick second she hangs up, its taken care of now no need to worry about it, your total owed is $3,200 even.

So I leave thinking "WTF!" and tell my wife about the whole situation. So the next day(Saturday) I leave to make a hunt and while I'm riding with the 4wheeler in the bed of the truck it hits me....I wonder if I need insurance on the bike, she never mentioned it". So come Monday I head over and ask her if insurance was required. "Yes, its roughly $10 to $15 a month from my experience, just make sure to have it done before X date, if not the bank will add CPI insurance to your note". So I leave thinking, well damn good thing I went in to ask! Next day I call Geico to add insurance and sure enough it was $14 a month, Geico then informed me they would send all paper work to Advanical. At this point I believe everything is a done deal and finished.

2 months later I log on to pay my note and my total went up $190 bucks, so I'm thinking WTF NOW! I call the office and they explain to me CPI insurance of $65 of added and another CPI addition of $125. The rep can't give me an answer on why 2 policies were added and appeared confused. So I tell her, not to worry about it, I will drive down to the office. The same loan rep who never mentioned insurance in the first place, the same one who said it was "around $15" a month, was the same rep to tell me she told me "Full coverage" was required. First of all it was complete lie, second of all full coverage is $55 a month so my little $94 + $14 note suddenly turned into $94 + $55. I was pissed on many levels because of how everything was handled.

Needless to say, nothing can be done about it now. Next time I won't use "Cookie" as my loan rep, I should of known by the name itself it was going to be a cluster ****.

    Welp. You lost me here.

As an aside, always read loan documents. The person on the other side of the table is a sales person.

Her real name is not "cookie" so if someone is in a professional environment why do you have sales cards with a stripper name on them and not our legal name?!? Its just unprofessional.

As far as the docs, yea that is a slight on my end and only I can take completely ownership for that. Sadly those darn documents are 12 pages long, printed in 6 font, and worded in a way you need a damn attorney to understand some of it. Yet, all in all I should of took the 2 hours to read it all lol its just a pain and I trusted she would of mentioned several of these key points. So at the end of the day it was "poor customer" service like the thread is titled.

Re: The Death of Customer Service...

Also, Amazon as of late has taken a slip in customer service in my eyes.

Back in March I placed an order for 3 games with release date guaranteed delivery.

First thing showed up in June, no issue.

Second thing was Forza Horizon 3, showed up a day late, contacted Amazon they credited my account 1 month Prime.

Third shipment was a day late, this time being FF15. Contact Amazon, they claim because they already credited me a month of free Prime for this order they can't do anything for me. It sets a crappy precedent because if you make an multi-order shipment over multiple dates and more than one part goes wrong Amazon will claim they already fixed the issue. So now anytime I order something with specific release dates, I make sure that I only order that item in one shot versus getting 2 or more things so each shipment is its own thing.

Why didn't you contact the shipping company in those instances?

Sounds like your local UPS carrier isn't too great.

When I was in college I was working at Pacific Sunwear (aging myself by calling it Pacific Sunwear) and we were in the thick of the holiday rush. There was this old crotchety lady that was just being rude to everyone on our staff who was trying to help her...we could do no right.

I was working the cash register and don't remember the specifics of her transaction, but as always, we would ask if they would like the receipt or if we should put it in the bag. She chose the bag.

5 minutes later and I'm mowing through the line and she squeezes herself to the front of the line, completely interrupts the customer who I was ringing up and demands her receipt saying I never gave it to her. I was polite and told her I'd be right with her, but she refused to accept that answer and demanded that I stop everything and give her the receipt right then...and she kept calling me "son". Over and over again. "Son, you did not give me my receipt." "Son, I don't care if you're helping her, I waited in line and I need my receipt." She said it about five times in a very demeaning way. I did my best to ignore her to complete the transaction.

Once that customer was finished, all I remember is just snapping and raising my voice "Look Grandma, I'm not you're damn son. I asked you if you wanted the receipt with you or in the bag. You said bag, so I put it in the bag."

She had two bags, I grabbed them both and pulled the receipt right out of the bag she wasn't looking through. She accused me of having it the entire time.

She asked to speak to my manager, who saw the whole thing. My manager downplayed everything and minimized my reaction right to her face, but in a very respectful way and it just pissed the lady off. She stormed out. My manager was pretty cool and told me what I already knew about how I reacted and let it slide.

Only time in my life I've ever had that kind of interaction with a customer, but it stuck with me as a lesson to never be that other lady.

I ran into my manager about 5 years after that and she still remembered it as well.

I don't think I've ever had a good experience at an IHOP. I'm not a huge IHOP guy by any means, but it seems like it's always long lines, slow and unfriendly/uninspired service, dirty bathrooms and mediocre food.

                  It sadly falls upon Amazon.

I pay them for shipping, so I can't collect any reimbursement from UPS.

Which is why if the rumors are true, starting some time in 2017, Amazon will allow you to pick the shipping carrier of your choice.

Depending on carriers is the worst part about ecommerce.

All carriers have horror stories though so I don't know if picking one over another really matters. Probably varies by your location.

In my area FedEx seems to be the best, which is hysterical because UPS also operates in the same exact industrial park. So packages end up pretty much across the street from each other, but FedEx here tends to get stuff here early most of the time.

For those of you who wonder why I haven't been active in this thread as of late, as I said, I just got PSVR (which is awesome btw!) and I'm working a ton right now...but mostly it is because I've stated my case many times and made my point, I know some of you disagree and that's fine but it's been discussed at length. For those of you who posted questions later to me, such as "well why didn't you just do it online when they gave you the link?" I'd say you need to go back and re-read from the start.

However, the intent of the thread though was to talk about customer service in general, as a whole, and to discuss if how it is changing, and if its changing for the worse or not. Thankfully after I've checked back in here it appears people are discussing it in that way and its become a thoughtful exchange of stories, ideas and a general debate about the state of customer service.

Lastly, if anyone doubts the fact that I have a lot of positive experiences then feel free to go check out my Yelp! page which has all of my retail, restaurant, experiences both good and bad. If anything, I tend to err on the side of being too nice as you will see if you choose to visit my page.

Customer service, not customer relations. I never meant that in my case the rep was rude or anything, she wasn't, so I apologize to all of you if I wasn't clear on that. Rather I was referring to companies representatives overall reluctance to work for the customer, instead expecting them to self service, even at times when it's a situation in which the company should.

I am most certainly all for self service as it does make it faster and easier on all of us. But sometimes the company will need to actually provide the service for the customer if they have issues. This is the issue I'm speaking of.

Let me give you an analogy...the self service aisle checkout at a grocery store. They are great if you are in a hurry and 95% of the time I use them. I prefer them because I can go at my own pace, make sure the prices are right and I can bag the groceries how I see fit. Love the self service checkout!

But sometimes if I'm tired and/or have a ton of groceries I just go through a regular line where a clerk rings the groceries up and bags them all.

I love the self service checkout but I don't want to see the clerk who rings us up go away. I love ordering pizzas online but would hope they never make it so you cannot call the pizza shop and order it that way. This is what I was referring to when I meant the death of customer service.

In all honesty, I don't think any grocery store here bags the groceries for us. I think we always do that ourselves, even in the aisles with cashiers.
