is a hamburger a sandwich? and is whatever between bread the only thing that constitutes a sandwich? is a sub a sandwich? and if bread is the litmus test, is donut a bread and and would lemon filling inside make a donut a sandwich? and off-topic, banana and peanutbutter is my favorite sammich. or maybe just tomato and with the smallest tad bit of mayo could be.
or fried baloney and mustard. or a blt. or a pb&j. I dunno, I just cant decide. no, its definitely a grilled cheese.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

I don't fully understand hockey as far as strategy and all goes but damn is it entertaining to watch!

Same. I mainly only watch during the postseason. I remember watching the Bruins-Leafs first round series in 2013 that went to 7 games, and Game 7 went to overtime after the Bs were down 4-1 in the 3rd, then Boston rode that momentum to the Stanley Cup Finals but couldn't get past Chicago.

Re: Off Topic 2017: Insert Thread Title Here
In hockey, about the most I ever hear involving a critique of a play is "They have to pass better," or "They have to shoot more," or "Their PK unit has to be better." When the Sharks played the Kings a few years ago in the playoffs, this is all I would hear as to why the Sharks lost or what they would have to do to win. I didn't have anything tangible to use and mentally gauge when watching.
I'm not saying hockey doesn't have strategy, but I'm just saying that the level of involvement that an audience member gets watching on television is zero to none regarding trying to play armchair coach. I do it with baseball pretty much as a living (plus the pace of play allows for it, as does most of the action being near where the ball is), and Jon Gruden does all of the line play for me in football, etc... I just wish hockey had a way of getting casual fans to be more enticed outside of hard hits.
That being said, I do love the sport and understand it on a surface level (I understand the rules, but again I don't have any depth in terms of strategy outside of what I do in the video games). I just don't follow teams outside of the Sharks is all.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I don't watch hockey much either, mainly because I can't keep track of where the puck is. Like I didn't realize Kunitz had scored the game winner Thursday night until the spotlights came on and the announces said so then I had to wait for them to show a slo-mo replay to actually see it.
As for the lack of in-depth analysis, I think part of it is that hockey a lot of non-stop action, even more so than basketball so there really isn't time to critique the teams play such as in football.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

this is what holds hockey back from the forefront for me. I love team sports and if I could see the damn puck better, the NHL wouldnt pass the NBA for me but it could definitely tie it for 3rd place on my favorite list of team sports. Soccer would move way up my list of sports if they'd shrink the size of the field. no way the field needs to be as large as an american football field IMO. I used to love me some old MISL soccer back in the day, tatu and dallas, good as it got in soccer for me. the worst thing about MISL was it inspired Arena football, which I cant stand. go figure, huh.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
