    Summer Concerts...and Other Fun Excursions

So what are some of the concerts you guys plan on attending? Or other fun summer activities?

I plan on going to see Shinedown July 21st, who are playing at the Casino I work (del Lago).
August 26th I'm going to Darien Lake (NY) to see Green Day. A couple weeks back I ushered a show at the Casino in which Sugar Ray performed. I may usher another show here or there, but those are it for the planned concerts.

As far as the excursions go, I plan on going to Letchworth State Park aka the Grand Canyon of the east ( Also in NY), to go white water rafting and hiking. I may eventually even give sky diving a shot which I have always wanted to do, but for one reason or another have procrastinated and keep on putting it off.

Beck on August 17th in St. Paul. I've never seen him live and can't wait. Then the day after, I'm flying to Seattle to visit friends and see Minnesota play Seattle in MLS. There are three of us heading out there and we got a pretty sweet airbnb condo near the stadiums. Should be a lot of fun.

Then not quite summer, but I have tickets for Spoon in September at the same venue as well.

We're going to Tulum, Mexico in a week. We were planning on going for our 5 year anniversary coming up in Septemeber, however, there were direct flights from NOLA to Cancun in July (versus flying to Houston the Cancun in September) so we decided to take an early anniversary trip. Plus, it's sooner so it seems like a win/win.

I already finished my big summer trip. My girlfriend has been studying over in the U.K. at Cambridge to get her Master's and just graduated, so I flew over and we spent a couple weeks in England and Spain (Cambridge, London, Barcelona, and San Sebastián). It was my first time making it to Europe. I had an amazing time. The food in Spain was incredible, and the city of Barcelona is just so cool.

If you've never been, Letchworth is pretty awesome. I went for the first time a few years back and just hiked around for the day and had a great time.

I've been there a couple times, but it's been a few years, I live a little over an hour east of Letchworth. Also, I'm so jealous of your trip. I have always wanted to go, but seems like it would be quite expensive. Mainly want to go to the UK, Paris, Rome, Greece (my late uncle was Greek), Sweeden, Germany, Amsterdam, and Egypt. Think I'm probably looking at 10 grand if I sqeeze all those places into one trip.

Friday I went and saw Strand of Oaks. They were great.

Wednesday I'm seeing Spoon and The New Pornographers.

That's pretty much it for Summer, but Fall is looking to be busy.

I was able to score tickets to Krokathon in Syracuse tomorrow with my cousin and a couple girls. Korn, Stonesour, and Skillet are performing.

My hearing is shot, and I love it so, so much. Shinedown was fu**ing amazing. Brent Smith is an amazing song writer, who's lyrics are deep meaningful works of art that should be cherished by all mankind. He along with the rest of the band, Zack Myers, Eric Bass, and Barry Kerch, gel so well on stage, they sound the same live as they do in a studio, and not all bands can say that. And I love how they honored Chester Bennington, by wearing black cloth around their necks.

Rest in piece Chester, you will be missed, but never forgotten. 1976-2017

Long weekend here coming up in 2 weeks and I only now started thinking of possibly going somewhere..... Or not. Everywhere is booked solid. I'd even settle for cheap motels but nobody has anything. Best available anywhere are in cities themselves with no tourist destinations.

Past few years I've gone diff places, this might be first time in 4+ years I'm not gonna be able to go out of town on any kind of trip. I'm not someone who needs to go to major destinations like a NY, Paris or anything like that, even just small town stuff and parks and lakeside areas are fine for me.

Might just go around the city here instead to the diff major parks since I actually haven't been in several years.

I went to see Ghost in Albany, That was the best live show I have ever seen. The Palace in Albany was such a good setting for them, they absolutly rocked.

In September I got floor seats for Sir Paul McCartney at the Carrier Dome. Sound Quality will be awful but its one of those once in a lifetime shows for me.

Best show I've ever been to was Tool. Oh my God you want to talk about a visual spectacle, as well as being pure eargasmic, that show totally raped my senses. The visuals can only be described as psychedelic. At one point a naked couple was suspended from the air embraced in each others arms with lights of all colors beaming off them.

The Green Day concert was insane. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. They took the stage at 730, show wasn't over until 11. At one point Billy Joe had a 15 year old girl come up on stage from the audience to play his guitar for a portion of a song, then gave her the said guitar . he also had an 11 year old boy come up and sing a verse from Longview. It was the most inappropriate verse from that song. If you wish to know, just look up the song lyrics, it's obvious lol. Before the show Tre Cool the drummer, was on the same rollar coaster I was on, I actuality sat in the car directly behind him, he was nice enough to sign my shirt and take a pic with me. Great fun. They know how to entertain and work a crowd with the best of them.
