It wasn’t until I got older that I learned not everyone got off for cinco de mayo. For me it was a school holiday.

I went to a Catholic school in New Mexico and I can't remember if we got 5/5 off but I always remember getting All Saints Day off which always confused me.

Story from the stupid (me):

I put refrigerated hard-boiled eggs in the microwave this morning at a low heat, and apparently I still set the time for way too long, because even though the shell felt like the perfect "egg temperature" to my liking, the yolk gets much hotter than the shell, and boils up inside waiting to be set free.

When I put the entirety of the egg into my mouth and chomped a bite, the sizzling hot yolk inside exploded and burned the entirety of my mouth and tongue. I felt like Edward Norton in Fight Club.

I don't know what lesson I learned here...

Beats the time I had Home Economics in high school, had to cook scrambled eggs in class via microwave and gave myself food poisoning

Obviously nobody is gonna wear socks with sandals, but what about socks with these types of slippers (to me, it looks like a mix between indoor and outdoor slippers). I'm not much of a slipper person and have no "fashion ethics" lol. It has tpr outsoles, so it can be worn somewhat outside too.

Lady finally contacted me about my counter. First she told me that she put that title in the agreement with no real scientific or specific research and that it's more of an assistant role. I said "well that was the original listing but you put specialist in the agreement so I did my research based on that."

She refused to budge on the original dollar amount at all. Then I said I still need something to kinda lure me from my current job and that I'm in line for a raise anyway, and she said well considering the bump and the benefits and you're basically maxed out potential-wise there, basically saying that's enough incentive. I even said OK and asked not even an extra couple bucks? She said they could do a "bonus structure" whatever that means. On top of the yearly bonus? I'm not sure. Then I asked okay about the unpaid time I'd be taking due to scheduled vacations, could I get a couple extra days so that a few of those days can be paid instead of unpaid? She said she'd have to talk to hr cuz she's not sure if that would be preferential treatment due to their policies for time off for everyone else.

I'm still considering the job because it's still "more legitimate" but these are a bunch of red flags, right? If I want to work in a chaotic, not-so-structured place I'd rather just stay where I am. I was also thinking of going to my current boss and asking him for a few bucks more and a bit more responsibility and that I have another offer. My current work definitely needs me so I don't think I'd get tossed aside. And it's not your typical company either where they would do that. So at least I could get some benefit out of all this crap.

Being an adult is stupid. Hella stupid.

I wouldn't necessarily consider it a red flag, you have to remember that recruiting generally has little to no wiggle room with offers and things they can do to entice the deal.

It's not a surprise that she would have to check with someone to change what the offer is because generally they work with a set of guidelines that can be altered here and there but not drastically.
