Buying eyeglasses online?

I'm about to get a new prescription soon and have started the preliminary process of looking for new frames and doing some research on these "new" sites that are selling glasses at a significantly cheaper cost. Anyone have any experience with them? Trying to figure out which one's the best to go with.

I've had co-workers do Warby Parker and things where they mail you some and you try them on at home...I don't think you save on those sites though. Not sure.

I find that I just go to Target and try on a bunch until my wife's happy lol

Warby Parker is higher priced than something like Zenni (the most popular), but they are defintiely still cheaper than you standard eye doctor.

WalMart or Costco have eye centers. I bought some prescription aviators from 39dollarglasses.com and they are going strong after 3 years.

I like that I could go to a Warby Parker store here to try them on and all that, but looking through their styles and I'm not sure their stuff works for me. Pricing is a bit much too, at that point I'd rather just get them from Costco, etc.

I found a couple on Zenni, EyeBuyDirect and 39dollarglasses that might work. I just got my new prescription today and there's not much change so I'm not even sure I need to do it anymore, lol.

I used Eyebuydirect and it worked well for me. Got 6 (2 sunglasses) pair of glasses for like $350

Warby Parker is definitely geared more towards a hipster look. They ship frames for free to try on too if you do want to try something from there.

If you buy online, how does fitting work?

Flexing an amount through my work's flex benefits plan is really convenient, as I can go anytime during the year and pay nothing out of pocket while $20 or so comes out of my paycheck pretax for the year. Checkup, new prescription, and fitting takes a couple hours and it's just done. I just wait for a deal at Lens Crafters and go then.

I've got quite a few pair of eyeglasses from Zenni.com. They're very reasonable and convenient. As far as sizing goes, you just need to get your PD (pupillary distance) when you get your eye exam done. If you don't have an eye exam coming up to get that information, you can also do it yourself very easily. I personally used an app that I found in the Google store. It worked great and my glasses were a perfect fit.

Should you use the app, I recommend doing two or three scans just to make sure your numbers match up.
