I can't think of any brick & mortar toy store to go to that isn't a department store or independently owned.

I used to work in the toy industry, and the only one I can think of is Learning Express. They have 100 stores. TRU had 700+.
Support your local stores!
But I also don’t mind hitting Target for some good stuff. They really upgraded their toy selection when TRU folded.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Christmas Thread 2019 “Hallmark Style”
Only downside of dedicated toy stores is the music. I remember walking into a KB Toys when I was like 15 or 16, and hearing the most annoying sing-songy childrens songs. Like, you couldn't pay me a million dollars to work 9-5 M-F with that music going nonstop.
Now, the toy store from Home Alone 2 is the goat.Comment

Re: Christmas Thread 2019 “Hallmark Style”
Dedicated toy stores don't really work anymore.
Parents for most part are smarter than that. Are you gonna bring your kid into a store where they won't be getting 99.999% of all things they see and would want?
Like many things nowadays, the big selling point for a physical toy store would simply just be having an actual location where you can pick up orders, assuming they don't offer/you dont qualify for free shipping.Comment

Re: Christmas Thread 2019 “Hallmark Style”
Any good suggestions on gifts to get for a teenager, or a kid about half that age?But you know parenting today is diff than it has been in the past (same can be said for every generation). And we have more of these bigger chains around compared to the past, and marketing which targets kids so much more.Comment

I'm honestly happy to see these holiday threads year in and year out. I'm busy with grad school and don't really see my friends or family that much, but I feel like seeing these posts always puts me in a better holiday mood when I see you guys in holiday spirit. Happy holidays, OS family!Comment

I’m really enjoying the season this year. I’ve realized that it’s impossible to watch all the Hallmark Christmas movies. I’m trying, but I’m in over my head. Good thing they all have the same story line and a lot of plaid shirts and garland. Go watch a few and tell me I’m lying. Lol.
I’ve finished my wife’s shopping and we got most of the kids all their gifts. Now we need to buy for our extended family. Trina handles most of that, so since I don’t work, I, kicking back and catching up on some reading and obviously gaming a lot. I’m hoping SANTA brings me a playoff spot for the Bills. Unfortunately, I don’t even think Santa can help the Steelers this year, so 1 out of my 2 teams in the playoffs would be nice. Also a bowl win for Norte Dame would be nice.
One more thing I want from Santa is for the guys on Oak Island to find something big this season. Damn show. Ah well, a guy can hope.I am the lesson after the fall.Comment

Re: Christmas Thread 2019 “Hallmark Style”
We put up our tree last night. The wife gets what she wants, lol. The little one had a kick seeing it all lit up and putting on a few ornaments. He’s hyped for Santa.
About to do a little bit of shopping. Still a bit early but I want to beat the crowds if possible. Problem is my wife & I suck at holding our presents to each other until the Christmas or Christmas Eve. It’s so much fun to give we want to do it immediately. But we preserve the magic for our son.
Aw man, Target has matching pajama sets for the family. My wife was a beanie baby (deer pajamas basically) for Halloween so she’s gonna wear that, I grabbed Christmas llamas for me and the boy. We are officially corny. Fluffy as heck though!
Gonna go check out the toy section over there and try not to go bankrupt. Wish me luck...NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Christmas Thread 2019 “Hallmark Style”
The problem for me is sometimes forgetting to write the gift and who its for in my notebook, so when I start getting presents out to wrap, I'm like "now who is this for?" LOLI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I love taking my daughter there. First thing we do, is go to the Star Wars isle and look at everything, then we head off to the Barbie, My Little Ponies and Frozen Isles. We have a blast. I’m waiting for Mary and Christian to get a bit older than we are going there and buying Nerf Guns. We will have epic battles at home and we will also hunt my wife.
