So I have a tumor/mass in my kidney

I went to the ER Friday night due to excruciating pain, fever, and nausea in my flank and groin area.

My thought was that I have a kidney stone(s) and likely an infection and need medication obviously and possibly a procedure to remove them.

However, while it turned out that I have 4 stones in my right kidney, they also discovered tgat I had a mass/tumor in my kidney as well.

So I’m going through the gauntlet of labs and scans to determine what this thing is. Obviously it could be cancer, but it’s likely to be just a mass of other things according to dr (don’t remember all because I was on medication when told)

I’m going to my urologist tomorrow to get more work done and discuss possibilities, options and all.

To say I’m anxious would be an understatement. To say I’m not scared would be a lie.

Anyways just sharing because I guess well I need to get it out to help deal with it. I don’t know. And I guess so that I could selfishly ask for thoughts and prayers.

I remember being told a couple years ago that I had a tumor/mass in my parotid, and I was freaking out up through the point that I got the biopsy results back (benign). Hopefully yours comes back benign too. It's not a pleasant experience mentally. Best of luck.

Sounds like the doc is confident it's benign.

And even if it is cancer, you can live with one kidney.

You'll be ok one way or another.

Definitely echo all the sentiments here.

I know this will not help at all (and is impossible to do), but let the test results come back and deal with whatever it is at that point. Vent to us as needed, of course - it's only human to need an outlet. Perhaps the anonymity of the interwebs helps as well. Now more than ever.

Wanted to say thank you for the well wishes. Went to my urologist yesterday to get some lab work (blood draws) and scans done as they try to determine what this thing is that I'm carrying around.

I'll go back next Monday to discuss results/findings/general health

Right now aside from pain and discomfort, I'm doing well. Told me so long as I can urinate, obviously, and temp stays below 100.4 I think is what the paper says, then no reason to visit ER or schedule immediate appointment.
