Re: This or That: Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday as I gotten older because the only requirement of me is to show up and eat. Maybe bring a dish or something, but nothing more.
But now its Christmas due to my son. Watching him light up around the time and his face on Christmas morning (he's 6), provides cherished memories.
I never was a Halloween person, even as a kid trick or treating. Just not my thing.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

In all seriousness though, Christmas is #1, no debate here.
As for #2, I enjoy Thanksgiving more since you have an actual dinner + leftovers surrounding it, and in Canada, it's a long weekend.
Although, I do like Halloween season way more than Thanksgiving season, since Halloween you have actual movies and TV specials to watch.Comment

Re: This or That: Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas
This year, it's Thanksgiving. LOL My wife and I are from different cities in SC and we're always on the road for the holidays. This year Thanksgiving is with my family and my parents just want to come to us since my brother now lives in the city as well.
SO basically, whichever one allows me to stay at my own house which, for my 10 years of marriage, has been neither....until COVID hit. Ha
But typically it's Christmas for the long break from the 9-5 AND like countryboy said, seeing my son's face light up when he gets to open a mountain of presents that we probably shouldn't buy. Re: This or That: Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas
I guess it depends on how the question is being asked.
"Spiritually" it's Christmas in a landslide.
If it's the way it's celebrated then it's Thanksgiving because there's no induced pressure of buying a bunch of gifts. It's just about family, food, and football... it's literally just a day of relaxation.
If it's for my kids I would say Christmas. They are the most fun around Christmas even if it's a lot of work decorating and stuff. I enjoy the hell out of drinking some eggnog and watching Christmas Vacation every year but we have so many places to be and you have to worry about if some random person in your family is going to buy your kid a gift and then you feel like you have to buy their kid something. If I could just cut it down to my family and my wife's family it may would be different for me but both of us still have traditions that involve grandparents so we are trying to be in 4-5 places on Christmas Eve and Christmas. There's barely time to just relax and enjoy it.
I don't care about Halloween that much. We decorate the yard every year with a cemetery and the kids enjoy it but I hate the logistics of taking young kids trick or treating. I suck it up and do it for the kids but man do I dislike it. Last year we had the bright idea to host a Halloween party at my house. My next door neighbor is in her mid 70's and her grandson is friends with our kids so we extended an invite and she told us "We don't celebrate evil holidays in our family." It was the most awkward thing.. she probably hated when I hung a projector screen and played Halloween movies on the side of my house.
So yeah I'm saying all that to say all around Thanksgiving is the best because the food and it's the least stress inducing.Last edited by AUChase; 07-28-2021, 08:23 AM.Comment

Re: This or That: Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas
Time to shock the world. But I absolutely love Halloween the most out of the three. The crisp temperatures. All the great scary movies. My favorite holiday by far. There's a certain aura about it. I've always loved the horror scene though. And playoff baseball is in the air.
Really don't care about Christmas much anymore. Just feels like a chore and I don't look forward to it much anymore minus the NBA games.
