Suggestion to moderators

Gents,

Everyone in the world will be crashing this board over the next week to give their impressions about the game. Since that's the case, wouldn't it make sense to have more than just one sticky on this? No one wants to dig through pages and pages on the sticky to look for the gameplay stuff they're interested in. Wouldnt it make more sense to just let people post different topics on the board around impressions? Sure would make it easier on myself and others I believe.

That sounds interesting and I know how you feel because when i've looked forward to games it's been tough to dig through hundreds of impressions. The problem with seperate stickies focusing on different aspects of the game is that it'll break down eventually and you'll end up with 2-3 stickies basically talking about the same thing.

Maybe it would be wise to delete the original sticky thread on the "official" release date and start over....I'll mention this to Sully

Not a bad idea. Instead of a catch-all gameplay sticky, have one for D, one for O, one for ST, and retain the one for "glitches"? Although I'm sure within a day they would all blur together anyway...

that's the problem...great in theory, just don't think it'd work in the real world....plus what if your discussion involves D and O equally, then you'd have to do some soul searching to figure out what thread to put that post in

I like the idea of impressions only - no questions just everyone rating the game.

I agree. You get one impression, and then 5 pages of questions/comments, and then two more pages of people ripping on each other before the next impression.

I don't understand what's wrong with different threads with impressions.

it makes it easier to read. then again i'm not a mod of any message boards.

Because you have dozens of threads cluttering up everything when they can say the same thing in one thread.

Will it make it easier to read if we delete anything that is not a "impression"?? THat might be an idea. Delete any bickering comments or anything else that isn't a gameplay impression.

I understand the dilema, because the questions help provide insight when answered, but the pages of "You are an idiot" make it not worth the effort to sort through it all.

II think it would work tremendously well. By specializing the threads it will help those who have clear questions to be able to get the info in a quicker fashion.

I believe it would be best to split them into a Q and A thread and a seperate impressions thread and mod it closely and just delete anything not related directly to the game

as of right now, there are 1572 posts in the impressions thread. i'd like to read some impressions, but there is no way i'm going through that many posts.

so can anyone link me to some of the better impressions in that thread? either here or in a PM. maybe the mods could just copy over the better impressions to a separate and locked thread? i trust your judgement.

Actually, since we have new mods, getting familiar w/ how we run things takes some time. Normally the Impressions sticky is a thread for initial impressions, and a place that users can have some questions answered. We do not force people to post their impressions in that thread. If you want to open up your own impressions thread, feel free to do so. Some people like to read from one thread, others like to read from other threads. Sorry for any confusion.
