Where in the ToS does it say Political talk is against the rules?

It's getting very annoying to see threads locked based off of the idea that Politics is against the rules. I've read the ToS, there are no rules banning Political talk.

There are rules banning insulting other members, religions, or ways of life. There is no mention of banning the actual talk of religion, politics, etc..

Either update the ToS, or stop locking threads because you "think" they are against the ToS.

I know it's against TOS per say, but if it's going to be locked, just lock it.

I've seen 2 or 3 threads over the last few days where the mod took a shot while locking it. Either lock it and say why, or leave it open if you are going to take shots at people and give the poster a chance to defend themselves. Very childish to lock the thread and take your own shot at someone in the same point.

I noticed the same thing but didn't feel like it was worth mentioning it. I forget what thread it was in, but after the Mod locked it, he said something to the effect of 'you have no idea what you're talking about' which somewhat tickled and also offended me. Glad you did mention this EG, as it's pretty cheap to take shots at someone's opinion after locking a thread. The Hell is up with that?

I haven't checked to see if it is locked, but it actually had intelligent discussion where people were respectful of differing opinions. I really wish this site would adopt a policy making these threads okay as long as they stay civil.

What I don't understand is, how these threads can be locked, when 90% of the time they are civil conversations. I've yet to see anyone start screaming "Yeah, well I hate you and your beliefs." I've seen zero posts that resemble those kinds of thoughts.

Even if Political talk remains against the rules, at least stop locking the threads while leaving a "one-liner" bashing another poster.

My thread wasn't political, but it was locked because of one persons mentioning of Bush and co.

That aint fair seeing gas is affecting all of our pockets.

You havent been here long enough. I remember when political and religious talk was allowed and it was a cluster f. The discussions never stayed civil and all it took was someone saying "I hate Muslims" or "Dems support AlQueda" before all hell broke loose.

True. I just dont want to go back to the old days. I dont need to hear Erod and his conservative rhetoric or Tombsong with his liberal statements. Keep that out of OS.

I didn't mind when OS had the Political forum because it was my choice to go in there or not. It at least kept it out of the forums I visited mostly. Of course, I didn't have the responsibility of policing it, LOL. I don't like how people inject their comments into threads and cause them to get locked. I wish OS's policy was more in favor of deleting comments rather than shutting down threads if the thread wasn't creating with political opinions.
