I think it's kind of lame with the big presidential race that we can't talk about it on OS. I know that talking politics can get heated but if you set specific rules for a political forum it could work.
Make a dislcaimer in every thread at the top such as:
Have strict rules for the forum more so then any other board in the forum. I think with appropriate rules and such a Political forum could work.
Well and after I posted this I just realised the whole "Political Talk" topic. Mods feel free to move this to there if you'd like.

Sometimes topics of this nature can make people upset. If you are one of those people, please do not use this forum. Anyone who uses personal attacks in this forum will no longer be able to post in politics.
