Its not needed.

All new posters arent idiots

There is a report feature to deal with threads that dont belong here

...furthermore, i dont think the forums should take a drastic change because of idiots who come in once a year to act like they can't spell, can't communicate with normal human beings, and can't abide by the forum rules.

I would like it though if we could immediately ban the troublemakers. They all usually follow the same line so its not hard to pick them out.

Maybe create something not as harsh as a ban, where they can still log in and see all the posts but cannot actually post/reply themselves?

bad idea: people will start making useless replies until the get to the magic number where they can start their own thread.

How about if we require new users to PM Heelfan 15 times before they're allowed to post in the general forums?

Oh...and all 15 PM's must be replied to.

200-300 posts would keep most of the new members from the NCAA and Madden release out of the picture. As for the actual magic number, dont say what it is so some wont be inclined to just spam for it.

Or if these new users are spamming to get their post count up so they can start making threads, just ban them for that.

That was my suggestion. IP ban them instantly. To hell with the warnings.

I agree with this completely. Obviously the crime needs to equal the punishment, but I'm sure we can figure it out.
