Glad to know it's not just on my PC. I was trying to search for this thread to make a post, but it took forever to find it.

Same here, it took 3 minutes for this page to load just now.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Anytime I go to quick reply theres an ad (or something) that keeps freezing up my browser. Annoying. Doesn't happen when you hit the quote to reply button though.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: Site slow, up and down for anyone?
Yeah this site was EXTREMELY slow for the past 10 minutes there. Pages wouldn't load up at all.
Overall the past 3 days this website was causing a lot of slow down issues with Internet Explorer. Switched to Chrome and today it was extremely slow. I don't know if it is too many ads on the page or what.
But ever since more ads were added I noticed this website crashes quite often now with slow down issues.Comment

Re: Site slow, up and down for anyone?
I posted about this on the Meebo thread. The reason for the pages and the site overall loading so slow is a website called (b.scorecardresearch.com )
Most advertising companies are obligated to add this web beacon ( cookie ) to track peoples internet activity.
I would post it here but you can just click here to read more about it
http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043063296
Who ever the webmaster here is should look into this. I would suggest that meebo be removed for a few days so that the sites performance can be monitored without it.
The only bad thing about this is that any website connected to this research company may have already injected the web beacon ( cookie ) into your computer under another name by clicking on adds from either here at OS or other websites.
Sorry guys for raining on all the Meebo fan's parade, but Meebo causes a lot more problems that just slowing down a website.Last edited by StewieShotU; 11-07-2011, 05:47 AM.Comment

Re: Site slow, up and down for anyone?
It's really easy to get it off if you know where to look. What you can do is look for the cookie in your cookies section delete it, then in your browser of choice block out the cookie using the exceptions feature.
Remember to stay on top of it once you block it and clear you cookies often. Cookies slow down your cpu big time. I have my set up to where I have to allow a cookie each time one is going to be set.Comment

Most work computers have firewalls to keep sites like these from injecting you with these type of beacons. Most of us don't know about this and our cpu's become infected with them.
