Unread reply indication

I really like the fact that I can look at a forum and see how many replies to threads are new since I've last looked at that thread. However, if I never visit a certain thread this "unread reply" indication (the number within parentheses) goes away. Why does that option go away for some threads though? Is there an option to make them permanent? I'd like to look back at previous days and see what threads I never opened up.

Just one of those glitches in the Matrix. I can't explain why it happens but it has to do with cookies getting expired.

The way to fix this is to delete your cookies.

This is located in your profile for future reference. You will lose all the "unread () counts" but this will restructure it to start keeping track of it properly again.

Ummm, it worked, but the next time I opened IE and got the forums, it was the same thing (no unread indications for certain threads). Do I have to delete cookies every time I log on?

You should not have to. You might might check in yuor tools, internet options section to see what level you are accepting cookies.
