    Online Franchise recruiting

I saw in the rules(have changed over the years) that you can no longer recruit through the forums unless you use OS as the forum for the league?

Any one know why? If someone uses/visits this site regularly I dont really see the problem. Many people have resorted to building their own websites with the forums built into the site.

It just seems to make sense to me to use websites with forums for reecruiting. especially a site like OS being it is directly connected with sports gaming. I mean OS has an area specifically dedicated to Madden(my main reason for using this site) and Online Franchises for Madden.

Could someone please explain why there is a conflict with recruiting that this has become a rule over the last couple years?

Couldnt OS create a seperate forum area specifically for those recruiting?

I remember a when it used to be a great recource for finding great franchise as well as finding great members. Now it seems like there an elitist, only if you use our forums type of thing.

Maybe if it was explained to me, it would make sense, but I just dont see it.

Any help with this would be great.

    Re: Online Franchise recruiting

Ive searched around the forums in depth and Im just as confused as when I started.

If someone could explain the process of getting approved to recruit for a franchise, and how the whole thing works I would appreciate it.

    thanks

      Re: Online Franchise recruiting

There is no approval to recruit for a franchise here. If you run a franchise and use OS as your main website for league discussions either through the blog feature or the forums themselves then there isnt a problem. In case you didnt read the TOS I would suggest reading the following as its explained pretty well...

      Recruitment & League Guidelines

Posting and recruiting for leagues on OS is fine if, AND ONLY IF, the league is run via the OS forums or Blog service hosted here on OS ("run" meaning the majority of the interaction between the players and the league, such as general league discussion, trades, scheduling, etc takes place here on OS). Any league threads created where users are prompted to visit another site or PM the thread creator or another league admin for "details" or "information" will be closed and/or deleted. Posting links to a game's official league website is not a problem (such as 2K's online league home pages).

For popular games with several established leagues, OS provides additional sub-forums solely for those leagues and their members. To apply for a sub-forum PM the administrator, Millennium, with your league name, commissioner name, and your "credentials" (The last part meaning not everyone is going to get a forum. You must have a good history or a good number of reliable users to have your application approved).

Operation Sports provides all users with an "Arena", an area for their own personal blogs, screenshots, and videos. These tools, combined with the forums and the ability to apply for your own forum, are more than enough to host and run a successful league here on OS.

I read those. thats why i posted this thread.

it doesnt anwer any of my questions.

I also dont get the using OS forums as they are far from organized as far as Online franchises go. It seams the topics run together as there is no General discussion, trade blocks, scheduling, etc. sub topics. Just one wall of topics for each franchise.

Cant I just link OS to my sites homepage or something? It seems unnecessary. Thats why Im asking for an explanation.

          Re: Online Franchise recruiting

The reason you're not allowed to recruit for online franchsies that aren't being run on OS is probably to cut down on spammers.

Also, once you start up an online franchise, you can apply for a subforum within the appropriate section that will be dedicated to your online dynasty. And once the subforum is created, you can create the individual thread dedicated to each aspect as you see fit.

No, you cant simply link OS from your sites homepage. The TOS explains it all pretty well, use OS to run the league either through the blog in your arena or the forums themselves. Like it was mentioned, if you petition to get your own subforum then you would have a dedicated thread for only your league where you can keep everything together and organized. Those are your options here.

Well thats lame. Either Im forced to use a poor forum setup or just recruit elsewhere.

The franchise forums arent organized anywhere near what I can set up through a free website builder. I dont want to down grade after a couple years of having a sweet setup.

Blog? about what? Whats the prupose of having 32 guys now having to frequent two sites to stay active?

All of this is to avoid spam? pretty weak if thats the case. I dont see why not have a seperate area specifically for recruiting. Who cares if people spam it. Its more people visiting the site and the more hits the site gets. seems like a win/win to me.

                  Re: Online Franchise recruiting

OK, so what exactly do you want then? There is a dynasty table generator that can be used (see the associated front page thread located a bit further down the page in Steve's forum). As was said before, you can apply for a subforum.

Let's say hypothetically I was to create an online dynasty for NCAA Football 11 (PS3). I would create a recruiting thread that would be in

Operation Sports Fourms > Football > NCAA Football > OS User Online Dyansty Froums > Recruiting for BurghFan's OS NCAA Football 11 Online Dynasty.

So then hypothetically, I get 11 other guys to join the dynasty with me and we've all picked teams and determined that we are all committed to it. Next I PM Millennium or whoever and ask for a subforum which is granted so we have.

Operation Sports forums > Football > NCAA Football > OS USer Online Dynasty Forums > BurghFan's OS Dynasty.

Then within this forum I would hypothetically create different threads for different aspects of the dyansty such as

                  . . . General Dynasty Discussion thread
                  . . . Dynasty Recruiting Thread
                  . . . etc.

And maybe each member of the dyansty has their own individual thread to catalog their teams performance and progress.

Most 'organized' leagues don't use threads for all of that information. Most like different subforums (in this case within a subforum) to organize all of that.

I think if management, which I've asked to do plenty of times but was ignored, went to a setup like that then more leaguse would stay on OS. If you cannot provide at least the standards some of these guys are putting into their websites then they will continue to run them elsewhere.

                    2 Pennies.

The amount of work required for a free sub forum with sub forums for each league is beyond what e have the capability for.

You are more than welcome to run your league elsewhere...but don't advertise it here.

thats my real questions though. If we are members of the community why cant we recruit here like it used to be?

Why must we be forced to use a less organized forum through this site if we want to recruit(especially if this site cant handle that amount of forums/subforums)?

Why not create a seperate subforum specifically for recruiting if your a member(still would get site traffic and people could keep their own setup)?

To me this seems to benefit the community and OS still keeps their traffic.

Its not like a franchise site is any competition to OS.

It seems as no one wants to answer these questions honestly. I would love a logical explanation. Thats all Im asking for.

isnt that what mods are for? They can still advertise regardless. Mods are the only thing keeping them in check. I also dont understand what you are getting at when you say "advertising" their site. Whats the difference between recruiting and advertising?

If there is a difference, why couldnt there just be a rule to differentiate the two?

How is an online franchise site any type of competition for OS. These sites are used to make up for things left out of games, not to inform the masses on breaking video game news. They arent for multiple genres of vide games and gamers looking to discuss all the aspects of each individual game.

If it all comes down to OS trying to make money off of advertising space and keeping their hits up, just say so. Thats the only significance to any of this I can figure.
