Help! Linking a video in post obliterated my thread

Somehow posting an embedded video from youtube, like I always have, caused some significant problems as you'll see when you click the link.

Somehow this text comes up: $(this).hide(); } }); } //-->, which I spotted in the source.

Checking the source at the point of issue, it looks like somehow the html got broken up while I was italicizing the text below:

Obviously switched out < with [ so it would show up. However, I cannot edit the HTML in the post so I cannot get it to appear. I tried to repost and delete the offending post, but all I managed to do instead was delete my new repost while the broken code remained.

Please help me out.

Thanks and appreciated it. Just wanted to bring the weird italics/html error to the mod's/administrator's attention
