BTW I have a problem uploading a mini avatar...is this for the same reason?

Custom avatars are available only to those who 1) donate $20 or 2) buy an OS T-shirt. There's a thread at the top of this forum that explains it.

Clearly you haven't read that thread in a while. There are no more shirts and Steve is currently looking for a new site/distributor. Plus, he was asking about the min-avatar; that is, the one appearing next to your username on the menu bar thing (For example, mine is the flag of Pittsburgh). I don't recall having to be a supporter to make one of those, just custom regular avatars required supporter status.

Yeah, I was able to have a mini-avatar before I became a supporter.
