Re: Pop up ads
I usually try to support good forums like this one by having my ad blocked not to block adds from these sites. But these pop-up adds that you have here...you are killing me bro.
I have to block you for now. I am talking about the ads you have the pop up when you accidentally mouse over the banner. And since you just cannot easily avoid moving the mouse over the long banner that happens a lot.Comment

Same here, but it inevitably doesn't last long.

Re: Pop up ads
Please make it stop.
It's on every single page. No joke.
iPhone 4 using Safari and iOS7.
These are the two I got when entering this thread and hitting reply. I have to close the ad every single time. And IT SLOWS THE PAGE DOWN LIKE CRAZY.Attached FilesLast edited by Heroesandvillains; 11-25-2013, 11:50 AM.Comment

Re: Pop up ads
Now I'm getting the infamous Walmart ad.
This is unbearable.
When I click the X to close it, it takes me to walmart.com.
Any remedies? Really can't stand this.Comment

Re: Pop up ads
It's all Wal-Mart for me too today. Up till now, it's been Kia. I guess the change of pace is...nice?
If you're on an iPhone, the X icon in the top right corner of the ad works (for me) when you touch it.
But it's literally on every single page. Every one. It's a nuisance and makes this site almost unbearable.
I've been posting about this for awhile now so I'm not sure what our options are. And no, I refuse to pay for a mobile ad blocker. Ads are totally acceptable, I get it and expect it now. But I firmly believe this is not how Steve or the advertisers expected this to function. It's oppressive; in my opinion glitched, and the worst I've ever seen online.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 11-25-2013, 12:34 PM.Comment

Pop up ads
If your on mobile, I'd recommend Tapatalk. The only downside to Tapatalk is that I can't see embedded videos.
If your on PC/Mac, I'd recommend Firefox with AdBlocker Plus and NoScript Security Suite installed for your add-ons. When I get on my PC, I'll probably show a screenshot of what I get, which from my bad memory is little to no adds.
For those who don't know NoScript is, it basically blocks any type of scripts on a site, though you will have to manually choose scripts to allow. But most of the time, it will be easy to allow OS stuff just by trial and error and by the URL name.

Re: Pop up ads
Guys using an ipad...I downloaded an app yesterday called AdBlock.
It's a browser that disables popups.
I've been using it now instead of Chrome. It's been working great so far.
It's free. But for $1.99 you can get the upgrade which allows you to have multiple tabs open.Comment

Re: Pop up ads
Just downloaded Adblock for IOS and yep, OS is usable again!Guys using an ipad...I downloaded an app yesterday called AdBlock.
It's a browser that disables popups.
I've been using it now instead of Chrome. It's been working great so far.
It's free. But for $1.99 you can get the upgrade which allows you to have multiple tabs open.
I decided just to only get the free one since OS is the only site I was tempted in abandoning. I don't need multiple tabs.
Although the browser is slow as molasses, it's still peppier than OS without the adblocking.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Although I can only hope that the site recognizes this issue and addresses it.Comment
