Yeah, they've only been talking about getting him for the last 2 or 3 years, then they let him slip on by.
There's a guy at Richmond that has a good bat and plays a decent 3B, but he strikes out more than Andruw. Maybe he can get it together for next season..... or maybe the Braves won't sign both Maddux and Glavine (scary thought) and can use the left over cash to trade or get someone through free agency.
They won't be in bad shape if they can't sign both pitchers... Millwood is pitching the best ball of his life, Moss is basically Glavine Jr., Marquis will only get better, and Smoltz wants back in the rotation. With Spooney closing and Trey Hodges coming up from AAA as the 5th starter, we'd still be in good shape.
I'm hoping they will keep Glavine and Maddux. Can't imagine either one pitching on another team. Maybe they will pick up a FA in the offseason. Or pick up another outfielder and move chipper to 3b.
Sounds good to me... hopefully they can pull some more rabbits out of their hats like they did with Hammond and Holmes. Those guys are amazing!
I can't imagine they would let both Glavine and Maddux go, especially Glavine since he's been with the team since the start.... but I never put anything past the Braves front office. They just better get someone in to replace them if they do.
