Like the subject says, I don't often have things to complain about as far as the way this board is run. Unfortunately, I just have to mention this, and I'll go back to my usual stuff.

Woo hoo this turned political - seems like every current events thread turns political now. So if I see one of those anytime soon, I will lock it too.
Congrats to all involved!

This is absurd on a few levels. And not even for locking the thread -- I would have locked it when the first negative post was made. I'm talking about the WAY it was locked.
First, the arrogant message. "Congrats to all involved?" We KNOW you hated the Debate forum, so there's no need to shove it in the faces of all involved when you lock a thread that slightly treads into the realm of politics.
Second, the comment about how all current event threads are moving to politics. Well...guess what? It's kind of an election year, and that's the majority of current events that are going on. If it were a year when the biggest political campaign was the re-election of the incumbant dog catcher, this would be different. Besides, almost anything can be twisted into something with a political theme. It's the threads that turn argumentative that should be locked (like I said, the thread in question deserved to be locked), not the threads that have the slight possibility of maybe kinda-sorta becoming vaguely political if one reads between the lines.
Sometimes I get the feeling that the mod in question sits around waiting and then begins salivating at the appearance of something he can bring down the ol' lock on like Zeus's thunderbolt. Oh, I'm sorry...that might have made this a religious post. I'll understand if you lock this.
