As for the rest, no real shockers.

Congrats to Sullivan, well deserving man. Happy New Year.

TOCA 2 would be no surprise if you're into realistic racing games. It's that good.

Take it for a spin if you haven't yet.

I'm happy to see that the staff loves MLB 2005.

Sometimes I feel like the game doesn't get enough respect because of bigger companies out there.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Like I've said to you privately in the past, I don't think you can look at the ESPN News feature in College Hoops 2K5 and not see its lineage tied to your original work on the ESPN boards. Beyond that, I think that guys like yourself, HotShot232, larrylegend, Baitman (where'd you go, cowboy?), vandnbyriver5, squidpants, leakfan and some of those other original legacy writers from the espnvideogames site will always feel like proud daddies when they look at how well received CH2K5 has been. That core group of fans always made it a joy to celebrate the game in all its forms, but especially in the realities expressed by those legacies which all provided unique expressions of our views on the game.

The ball started rolling hard in 2K4, gained momentum in 2K5 and I hope that the growth and appreciation of that series, which is a true credit to guys like Rob Jones over at VC and that entire development team, just continues to grow.

Another thing too; in looking at how well the VC/Take Two titles did in a competitive environment, I can't help but be further saddened by what will be an incredibly uneven playing field in 2005. To me, I am sad for all sports gaming enthusiasts, regardless of their preferred affiliation to either EA or VC or whomever. Competition is what brought us the very exciting sports products that we realized as a community this year. My only hope is that gamers will support quality gaming products regardless of licenses. Should we do that, then that will send the best message to any major league as to what our requirements are as a community

In closing, hats off to all the developers this year. It's been a great year for gaming that has raised the bar to wonderful levels in virtually every sporting genre

To the College Hoops team -- thank you. This is what basketball gaming always needed to be. Not about the flash, but about the wonderful core gameplay delivered by the C-Hoops franchise this year.

                              • Sports VG titles were REALLY disappointing in 2011-12
