I've read a lot about people being upset, like my self. Any word on if EA will patch it in or stay with the excuse of leaving in out to save money

There will probably be an update called "Fifa Brazil 2014". This one will feature tournaments for international teams only

But as far as the tournament mode we all loved, I am 100% sure that EA will not put it back in, neither in this version, nor in future versions.

Have you read the official EA statement about this? Sounds pretty final to me.

I rarely use Tournament Mode or single season, but honestly I feel for the people that do. That excuse is an absolute joke. They didn't need to spend time on the mode. All they needed to do was make the exact replica in the next gen game. They did it with Career mode and Ultimate team, why not Tournament mode? They didn't even add on to anything in either of those two modes so I just don't understand how they can say they decided to put their focus and budget towards the other things. I doubt it took too much to port over those modes. Really a poor poor excuse from them. Any time something is taken out of a game it's not a good thing, especially when the memory on the disc is plentiful to keep the mode.

With the atmosphere available on next gen it better be a stand alone game and they better do a good job capturing it. With their intros and fans now they have the opportunity for making an incredible World Cup game.

When you think about it, it's not as simple as porting modes over... the PS3/360 have completely different architectures to the PS4/XB1 (Which share relatively similar architecture) They would have had to create the PS4/XB1 versions of this game in parallel to the PS3/360 versions, they couldn't just copy/paste/port, and instead of tournaments they added things like Living worlds and worked on how the game looked.

I'm not saying that they couldn't have added more people to the staff to do it... but it's a balance, It may be back once they have more experience with the PS4/XB1 and start cutting back on the number of PS3/360 developers they have.
