Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

Well, well, well... More evidence complaining on the internet fixes everything. Guess who scored some goals last night - none other than Alberto Gilardino. Won both games I played last night, leaving me with three to play to finish out the Serie A campaign. Looks like the highest I can finish is 8th, so I'm ready to get to the window and World Cup.

Does anyone know if player form from the end of the season applies during the summer transfer window? Or does it reset when you advance to the next season? Most of my starters are in form and it'd be nice to inflate their potential transfer fees. I received some offers for double market value for an in-form Fetfatzidis in January, so I know it can make a big difference.

Oh, and that 17yo defender in my youth academy looks like he's around 70ovr and high 80s, if not 90+ potential after the May 1st update. I went to promote him to the senior squad, but it was full. I'll probably just wait until space opens up from expiring loans & contracts in the summer. But I'm really tempted to give him a game or two and see what he looks like. I'll try to get some pics once I do.

      My Everton update: year 3

Busy February, with EPL out of Jan transfer window, FA cup, Capital One Cup, Champions League, and decided to lead Colombia in South America Cup and WC qualifications.
      Current status:
      EPL- Currently 4th in standings
Champions League- beat Athletico Madrid in round of 16 in home away, 0-1 and 2-1 matches. Awaiting round of 8 matchup.
Capital One Cup- Beat Chelsea 2-1 to win Cup!
FA Cup- Lost to Stoke 2-3 in round of 16.
      Colombia- won 2 friendlies.

March calendar: EPL matches including matchups against ManU and 1st place Spurs. Colombia sitting 4th in WC qualifications, got 2 qualification matches against Argentina and Peru. Champions League next round. Tough balancing act during this time of year.

I may have to bump up the difficulty to Legendary now. After reading Orion say that you may need auto switch on, I tried it. MY PLAYERS DON'T JUST STAND AROUND ANYMORE!
That said, just made a run of 4-2, 4-2, 3-0, 3-0 wins against Chelsea, Hull City, Stoke, and Aston Villa.
I am matched up with Shakhtar in the knockout round of the Champions League.
Remy and Lambert lead the team in goals. Sturridge has hit the post about 7 times this season.

Got back to playing with manu

Won the cl against bayern munich. 0-0 after 90 min. Rvp scored at the 100 minute mark. Robben scored at the 119 mark. I was devastated.

Made 4 penalty and blocked one from robben to win it all.

Beginning world cup with holland. Won first game but tied cameroon. Have bulgaria coming up.

Manager Career - Genoa & Mexico

Finished out the season L-W-L, dropping to a final position of 11th. Still hit my objective of mid-table (14th or higher) and received about €4.2M from the board for my performance. I put all but a few hundred thousand into wages (at about €105k/wk available), so we'll see what kind of budget I get once I advance to next season. I also had to burn over €100k to release a 56ovr scrub so I could sign my top youth player after he threatened to cancel his contract. Luckily he still signed -- I forgot to check his ratings, sorry -- and I'll try not to hold his hardball tactics against him.

My World Cup group with Mexico consists of Germany, Romania, and Uruguay. I bumped up to 15 minute halves for the WC and played the first match against Die Mannschaft... what a thriller. Took the lead about 7 mintues in thru Gio Dos Santos and despite being outshot 14 to 4, nearly made it to the break before Özil scored in 1st half stoppage. I made a few halftime adjustments -- from custom 5-4-1 to my usual custom 3-4-2-1 -- and started the 2nd on the front foot. More Dos Santos trickiness gave him the space to pick out Chicharito for a well-placed standing header to make it 2-1 Mexico in the 56th. Unfortunately, Germany equalized only a few minutes later again thru Özil, before the match settled into a pattern of trading chances but not converting. I generated a lot more after yanking Vela (who did nothing) in favor of big ST Raul Jimenez (a possible Genoa target?) and shifting to 3-5-2. That might be how I set up moving forward, depending on my opponent.

And now for the crushing conclusion... I had several consecutive corners as stoppage time approached, so I went for it. I ran a custom set piece that leaves three back to defend a counter, Germany cleared and were off. I managed to scramble well enough to halt the counter, but I was too disorganized and Schweinsteiger arrived in the box uncovered and slotted home to break my heart. Next up is Romania coming of their loss to Uruguary, so a win is both achievable and crucial if I hope to advance.

WHY DID I SAY THAT??? It's like the FIFA Gods heard me. Had a draw against Burnley and a draw against West Ham last night. The 2 teams at the bottom of the table. Now 6 points behind Chelsea for the title with 13 left.

In the winter transfer period I picked up Hakan Calhanoglu. I needed a FK specialist, and I think this kid is going to be a stud.
I also picked up Ibai Gomez. He's a LW that can play fullback or the CAM. Very versatile.

Oh and I forgot something rather important... For some reason, Arsenal thinks I'm the best candidate to replace the legendary Arsene Wenger. After an 11th-place finish in Serie A. With one year of coaching experience. I read their response to my application several times in disbelief.

I stalled, but I as much as I love the club, I don't think I'll accept the position. If I did more to earn it, I wouldn't hesitate.

When I took over Bournemouth they had aquired a ST from Malmö FF, by the name of Tokelo Rantie. This dude is a beast. He can't miss for me. Hes played in 12 games and has 16 goals. Hes so fast and strong, its hard for defenders to knock him off the ball. And he seems to just hit the target perfectly almost every time. Hes is my lowest rated ST, but he has become my main starter. Hes leading league 1 in goals with 7. Hes leading J.Paint with 5. And hes tied for the lead in Capital One with 4.

I also switched to the 5-2-1-2 since taking over at Bournemouth. I haven't lost a game with them yet. Sitting at 10-4-0 in League 1. And in the semis of the Capital One cup. Also in round 4 of the J. Paint.

I also have a couple questions regarding these cups.
Why is it that if you play in England you are always in the Capital One, F.A. and J.Paint. Do you not have to qualify? Are they just open to every team? Do you only have to qualify for Champions and Euros? And which one is considered the Domestic cup. The one you get a manager goal for. It always says something like get to the round of 32, and yet it never says you completed it, even if you win the only cup in a league that only has the one.

It seems like more leagues need more cups.

The F.A. cup is for pretty much every team in England ... almost 800 teams total I believe? The Capital Cup is smaller, its the Premier League teams, and some 70 teams or so from the lower leagues.

                            J. Paint is a lower league cup, I believe only open to League one and League two teams. The F.A. is the biggest cup in England, but winning the Premier League is still the number #1 priority.

Soccer cups and leagues can be confusing - there are so many, some with cross-over qualification(like teams being knocked out of the Champions League and getting a place in the European League). I still get confused, especially since the name of the Capital One Cup changes every time they change sponsors.
