Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
Appreciate the responses. Looks like I am going to have to narrow it down to keeping one at the end of the season and then maybe try to get one back in the opening transfer period of next season. Either way there is no way I can afford to lose them all.
The last 5 games I played without my strikers was beyond painful. No goals over 5 games (I play 15 minute halves) was just flat out painful. At least I only lost one of those games.
Luckily Schrijvers came back a bit early and despite low stamina I was able to insert him into my second round cup game against Rochdale in the second half. After being in the game for 3 minutes drew a penalty inside the edge of the box and finished it off to give us a 1 goal lead that we carried through to full time.Comment

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
Question on future fees.
Do I get my next year budget injection before I am presented with the option to execute the future clause?
I started a CM with Torquay United and brought in Schrijvers, Benzia and Bellerin on loan with future fees since that was the only way to get anyone in with a tiny budget and was planning on begging the board for some funds with the promise of automatic promotion in addition to any cup money I can come away with so I could keep them around, but if I get my budget next year I can start setting up my youth scouts and squad now and pay back what I took out later.
Love playing in league two by the way. Tons of fun trying to play with guys with the touch of elephants. But now I am really hurting since I've now lost Schrijvers (Torn Quad), Benzia (Broken Ankle) and Pearce (Torn LCL) for 3 months. Schrijvers netted twice for me over the first three games then went down and I started relying on Benzia to carry the attack and now that he is down it looks like I'm sticking 5 in the back and parking the bus for a couple months. Worst part about it is that I lost Benzia on a play where I should have received a penalty that (if converted) probably would have kept me in the Capital One Cup, where I ended up getting eliminated by Oldham on penalties.Comment

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
Update on my Barça season, current standings
1.Atleti 21 GP 55 PTS
2.Real Madrid 21 GP 49 PTS
3.Barça 20 GP 42 PTS
4.Valencia 21 GP 42 PTS
Lost a crucial game at Atleti 2-1. At the time the win would have cut the deficit to 10 pts with one game on hand. Now I'm able to cut it to 10 with the same number of games. I play them once more so can only cut it to 7 myself. Need help from Real and Valencia. Even then I'll still be 4 behind Real if I win the upcoming La Liga game.
I'm at the January transfer window, sold Luis Suarez to Real for 95 million. They had offered 45. Thought they wouldn't bite at 95, they did. Sold Kun Aguero to PSG for 100 million. Again got offered 45 and they bit on the 100 million. Now I have bank to go after Reus, Marquinhos, maybe Gundohan, a backup goalie. For next season I should have a purse of 100+. I remember now how easy it's to build a good amount of $$$ on big teams.
Champions play is upcoming in February, as of now I have the Copa del Rey to play. I'm in the semis against Atleti and Real is facing Osasuna on the other one.
On a side note, I'll be starting a new one up with Portsmouth here shortly now that the updates have occurred and Pappa is back in the game. Can't wait to see him lead Portsmouth back to the Premier.Comment

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
So, I'm a huge FM14 player. Recently in my FM game Leeds was taken over by a Saudi Tycoon in 2015. At the time I was managing Leyton Orient in the Championship, and Leeds was in League 1. At the end of the year Leeds sacked their manager, and I promptly applied and was offered the job and I'm currently now in the Championship with an owner who keeps pumping millions into the club to sign the best players. Can't wait to see where this owner takes me.
Now, that gave me an idea. I wanted to start with Leeds, but I wanted a Tycoon takeover. The financial takeover unlock is borderline worthless to me. It should do what it says, be taken over by a Tycoon owner who year after year pumps money into the club.
Since I didn't want to just use the financial takeover and get $60M and then that's it, I did cheat and created a few 20 year old wonderkids and sold them off right when I started my CM. I now have around $500M and will use that gradually over the years to build my youth squad, and us the best scouts. I've went off and bought some of the games best 70+ rated wonderkids (Bakkali, Adryan, Praet, Januzaj, etc) and will use these guys to build them up and get into the Prem. After that I will probably look to boslter the team as a Tycoon woaner would expect with some world class stars.
Granted, I cheated. But I wanted to try and replicate what's going on in my FM14 game ATM.Comment

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
Ha! I got fired for cursing too much.
The problem is, I have two Xbox Ones side-by-side, and a lot of times my roommate will play NBA 2k while I play FIFA; the game recognizes a lot of random sounds as "curses" or "outbursts" so I got sacked and I was pretty surprised to see it.
Had some job offers from Aston Villa, Wigan, etc. but chose to just start over. I got a good laugh out of that email when I read it!Comment

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
I should, but it's a new season now and since I have had to sell my two best players but then I took second in the EPL. So now I am in the champions league and all my young talent is maturing.
I also think the whole having to sell my players early was because I didn't give them lucrative extensions. Now that I am rolling in cash, I give all the players I want to keep huge raises. It seems to be workingBeavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
I don't think this is possible but was hoping maybe someone found a way around this.
Is there any way to start a career without having Global Network scouts assigned to you?
I enjoy starting a career with a very lowly ranked team and having a huge portion of my transfer budget sucked away for useless scouts when the reduction prevents me from being able to sign anyone they would recommend on transfer or loan is pretty annoying. I would rather set up my youth scout with some of that money to get young players rolling in and use the rest to shore up contracts of current players and go out and get one or two players on loan that will help me get wins. As Newcastle its fine dropping 2 million on scouts when my budget is 14 but with Torquay ripping 150-200k out of a 400k budget is maddening.Comment

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
Scratched the NL2 with Portsmouth and just started one with Newcastle. I used a financial takeover so I got some extra cash. I bought 3 scouts to start off as I will be using a youth system to build up Newcastle. Here's my first transfer window
In
Mid Oliver Torres (loan, 7 million future fee from Atletico Madrid)
Fw Luis Suarez (35.5 million from Liverpool)
Mid Paul Pogba (12.5 million + Tiote from Juventus)
Fw Christian Benteke (10.5 million + Cisse from Aston Villa)
Def Raphael Varane (14.5 million from Real Madrid)
Mid Mateo Kovacic (9.5 million from Inter)
Fw Zakaria Bakkali (loan, 5.5 million future fee from PSV)
Def Luke Shaw (3 million + Ryan Taylor from Southampton)
Out
Fw Papiss Demba Cisse (see above)
Mid Cheick Tiote (see above)
Def Ryan Taylor (see above)
Def Massadio Haidara (loan to Preston North End)
Fw Sammy Ameobi (loan to QPR)
Mid Gael Bigirimana (loan to Wolves)
GK Jak Alnwik (loan to Dag & Red)
Didn't really get the cash I was looking for most players so I kept them in case I get offered more during the winter transfer window. I'll be starting some house rules starting next season, summer transfers can't be more than 30 million combined and winter 20 million. Will be trying to limit spending, should have a good team with the players I brought in.
Here are the results thus far
League
Newcastle 4-0 Man City (shocking result, 4 goals in the 1st half as all the breaks went my way. City never got close of a comeback)
West Ham 1-2 Newcastle (West Ham took the lead early, tied it at half and a Suarez fk goal got me the win int he 2nd half. Stole this game.)
Newcastle 2-0 Fulham (got an early goal and then Fulham took over, miss after miss they couldn't score. Got a 2nd late in the 2nd half to seal the win)
Capital One Cup
Newcastle 2-0 Mansfield (controlled the game, used a bunch of backups and played without the internationals: Varane, Debuchy, Ben Arfa, Pogba, Remy, Krul, Benteke, and Suarez. De Jong got one early in the first and Oliver Torres added a 2nd)
Utilizing a 4-2-3-1, which was their default. So far so good, hopefully this run continues. Also placed them in the Europa League as it makes the 1st year interesting with a bunch of games. A bunch.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
Play Professional, 10 Minute Halves.
Started a Sunderland CM but realized I didn't know what I was doing so I started a Newcastle CM. Loving it.
Now that I have a better understand of transfers and youth squad I am now doing much better. I am 4th in the table after about 6 games. I brought in a few players from other teams and I am also building up my youth squad. So it's been really good.
They (the board) have asked me to quality for the champions cup and to make the Round of 16 in the league cup. So, I am hoping to do both.
In addition, now since I understand the game, now I know I need better defenders. I have about 1 or 2 good players on the backline but we are getting outrun by speedy forwards. So, I am going to work hard to bring in a good Center Back to cut out chances close in.
My offense is getting much better and the midfield plays really good at times.
I just beat Manchester United (2-1) in the Capital One Cup first game, and after that beat Everton (1-0).
Once I get feedback from you good people on the forums on how to proceed regarding resting my players, I will make some decisions about the next game. I am thinking about resting a few key starters but don't really know what to do or the best way to go about doing that. I posted a question about it in the forums. When the game is on the line, winners want the ball.Comment

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?
So in my 6th season, I won the EPL(barely, by 2 points on the last day) , Qualifying for the Champions Cup the next year. I also got offered the French National team job and took it.
Year 7, my board's expectations went through the roof. I had to finish in Champ Cup qualifying (top 4 in league), Semis for Domestic cup and Quarters for Champ cup.
After my friendlies and 2 or 3 league matches, my 20 year old RM who was a 78 wanted to be transferred. I tried countering offers, but they got rejected and my board ended up selling him to Everton for 7.5 mill (which is fiine, I am a everton supporter IRL). So that left me with a hole. My young guys weren't ready and my board gave me 35 mill to play with (plus the 6 from the transfer). So I looked through my french national squad team in the submission screen and found a CM Raboit who was 24 and a 77. His value was a 7 mill but I was on transfer deadline day and I offered 23 mill and got him (an overpay I know but I NEEDED him).
He turned out to be perfect, he's 6-2 with speed! I ended up winning my group stage in the Champ Cup and was in the top 7 of the EPL table. Half way through/. I had also bought all 4 and a 5 star youth scout at the end of last year. And it was paying off. Through this year (start of season 8 in october) I have so many new youth players that I rotate in now and my youth squad is crazy right now.
So I ended up winning the champions cup. The semis and finals were some of the most intense games I played. I trailed 0-1 at half and came back to win 2-1 in both games. In the final I tied it up early in the half and then we went to OT in the 92 minute in OT I scored and just played ultra defense to finish the match.
Now in my eighth season, some of my young guys are starting to improve into the low 70's, providing with the necessary depth for the Champ cup and EPL season's. Since becoming an "elite" team this game got so much more fun. My transfer budget is still low, 40 mill, but I prefer to build within and only get transfers when I desperately need them.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment
