I turned down pass and shot error, and behold, some obvious passes and shots i thought i was screwing up are landing more or less where they were intended, which is a huge help. On full manual, I dont really need the computer gaining even more of an advantage.

Anyone turn down user shot/pass errors on manual?
I'm wondering, because it seems fifa 14, especially the NG version penalizes manual players more than they should. I got so many missed passes and shots compared to FIFA 13 on 360 and even fifa 14 on 360, that i thought i was doing something. I even tried blaming my lack of familiarity with the new ps4 controller.

Re: Anyone turn down user shot/pass errors on manual?
Let me ask a fifa "philosophical" question to all manual users.
If you use manual to feel like you are in control of everything, why would you want any shot or pass error at all?
I have never understood any manual slider sets I have seen that have any setting other than 0 for error things listed.
If you have error on it isn't manual anymore.
So to your question grallis I would say 100% yes...zero those settings so only your controller input matters. That makes sense to me.resident curmudgeon -

Good point, but you might want it it because you can get so good at manual controls that the game is too easy. Also, even in tight situations where in real life players would have an impossible time making a pass, manual players fare a little better. That being said, I find fifa 14 on NG affects my manual playing too much so I have adjusted and put forth the question. Thanks for your reply.TB Lightning | Liverpool | Panathinaikos | Toronto FC

That said, the sliders provide the user with the ability to increase or decrease the manual control margin of error to compensate for any slider/controller programming shortcomings. Not much point in raising the shot and pass error sliders if the sliders on 100 are programmed so extremely that passes and shots go 30-45 degrees off target from where you aimed. That's not manual control, that's no control.Last edited by Yeats; 02-02-2014, 08:09 AM.Comment

Re: Anyone turn down user shot/pass errors on manual?
Hey Yeats! Did you get fifa NG?
Ok so...
Manual controls with shot and pass error at 0 are actually semi-assisted controls? Because the game will correct your manual input not allowing as much error?
And manual controls with shot and pass error at 100 may not be full manual because the game is forcing errors even with exact controller input?
So the two extreme swings of values are based on the user wanting help on manual or wanting to fight the game intentionally denying you opportunities...
If that is how it works I think if I made the game I would have done this differently.
This is interesting stuff.resident curmudgeonComment

Re: Anyone turn down user shot/pass errors on manual?
Another thing here that makes me think I should move away from manual is the physics engine in the game.
Pure shot and to an extent pure pass.
If the game is doing some calculation that says the ball bobbled 2 inches from the optimal boot to ball strike zone so now there is a 10% deviation applied to direction and elevation. Or the player has his left foot 3 inches in front of the correct plant foot placement zone, the tolerance zone which allows a well struck shot, but now it becomes a stubbed shot, etc.
If it is calculating these things and also applying or not applying error with the slider do we really have any control at all?resident curmudgeonComment

Yep I agree with that.
Just funny how EA is adamant about no softening of offsides calls or erroneous offside calls as they say they don't want to frustrate the user but then have no issues implementing error into all other facets of gameplay.resident curmudgeonComment

Agreed. At the very least there could be an option for the linesmen to call imperfect offsides like there option to turn handballs off and on. It would also help if the players didnt go offside for no reason ...TB Lightning | Liverpool | Panathinaikos | Toronto FC

This just changed how I look at the sliders and what they do.
Is there some kind of writeup that fully explains the slider set.
The description in the game somewhat vague and clearly sounds different than the explanation above.PS4 - CoastalRyan

Re: Anyone turn down user shot/pass errors on manual?
This. I played FIFA back in the 90s when I was a kid, but FIFA 13 was my first foray into modern FIFA, and I only played a bit here and there with friends. FIFA 14 NG is my first FIFA purchase in 20 years, and I feel the dispartiy of difficulty gaps are too large; I'd like to get some sliders to make the perfect FIFA experience for me, but I'd like to see the description of each slider and which way they work. ThanksComment
