    Importance of player match ratings.

    Hey guys,

I want to know how I can improve my match player ratings with my CAM. I have a youth player with a potential to be special and I play him most of the time (he has rubbish stamina and takes a while to recover). I try and run my game through him. He's like my Paul Scholes or David Silva, the guy who dictates the pace of the game, at least that's what I want to use him for. But I've been getting bad match ratings with him 6.2, 5.7. How can I get him up to the 8s and 9 match rating performance?

Also, does match rating have anything to do with how well a player progresses?

    Thanks.

I'm not sure it has any effect. Progression is all tied to player potential from what I can tell.

No it's not, they have to play well to progress as well. I had a Youth player who had a 90 potential, But he wasn't progressing cause every time he played it he was in bad form. I ended playing a different player and the kid never progressed past a 70. I sold him when he was 25.

        I'd say it's a mixture of both.

In real football games, take a player like Tom Cleverly, loads of potential but doesn't live up to it and has more bad games than good.

On the flip side, nobody expected anything from James Wilson a couple weeks ago when he debuted for Man Utd. Yet he scored two goals and (not totally sure) was the man of the match?

But I've found that my players do progress quicker if their match rating is higher.

I feel like it definitly plays a part even along with morale and the "form arrow." I just wish I could figure out the formula that goes into match ratings. It seems a little off at times. Once I have a game in hand it would be nice if solid defensive play got a higher rating than moving fullbacks to strikers and running up the score.

two examples - started my career with rcd espayol - made two purchases Rodrigo Moreno Machado (77 rating) and Jonathan Dos Santos (73 rating)

3 seasons in - Rodrigo is 80 rating and dos Santos is 80 at the beginning of the season

currently Rodrigo is the leading scorer in all of liga bbvb with 27 goals in 30 matches and dos Santos is playing quality matches with 3 goals.
yet Rodrigo hasn't increase rating and dos Santos increase by 2.

So if it may by performance i don't see it it may be because of potential.
or rodrigo is scoring a ton of goals and having bad ratings.
because i have seen dos santos as my lead rating most of the time.
