      Well, that was underwhelming.

But hey, hair moves now, so we got that going for us.

From what I saw, at least the pitch looks good...right? Lol. I didn't much of anything that was changed in this from last year's iteration. I hope I'm wrong come release day though.

        NFL: New Orleans Saints

So they talk about players being emotional now, hair moving......

Quite frankly, I'm getting tired of the gimmicks by EA, emotional players, visual upgrades? I've been looking through the news about FIFA 15, nothing about how teams will differ from one another in terms of how they play, or how the stars of today's game will differ when they play.

If I'm playing for instance with Italy for example, Pirlo is the play maker on the team, the CPU AI should be aware of players like Pirlo and try to minimize his impact on the game, such as perhaps the CPU AI man marking Pirlo, switching tactics up differently, etc.

When I play Real Madrid, I want to worry about Ronaldo with the team recognizing that I have some weak backs and Ronaldo is looking to use his pace and dribbling technique, and they are attacking from the sides because it's a weak spot on the team.

Maybe a game against Monaco with Falcao who is deadly with headers, but isn't the fastest. Perhaps I have CB's who aren't as tall, don't have great jumping ability, but they have pace making it difficult for Falcao to beat them off the dribble. The CPU AI recognizes this and tries to utilize Falcao by crossing the ball from the sides to let him use his superior aerial ability on smaller defenders.

Maybe I'm dreaming a bit too much with all of that, but player ID and modeling how teams play in real life needs to be in, but I fear it won't be.

I know this wasn't much, but I'm disappointed in what I saw. Because they nailed 14, which was obviously their first time developing on the NG consoles, I expected them to come out bigger and better this year. Having high expectations got me again.

Yes, I thought it was very strange when two Man. City defenders just ignored Messi and let him walk right to the front of the net for that bicycle kick attempt.

Although it wasn't much, there were several good things there gameplay wise, the first and most important being ball spin on passes, and the second being possession tackles.
Now I know they didn't really get to in depth with it, but that ball spin thing is absolutely huge and it should have a marked effect in the game mainly because the ping pong passing will be eradicated. Passing now becomes more about intelligent decision making and less about twitch skills.
As for the new tackles, all I can say is hallelujah! Think about it, how many times have we all seen good tackles go for naught because the ball just caromed right back to the opposition? How many "CPU cheat" complaints have there been about this very issue? Another solid in my book.
The graphical improvements to me are noticeable and for the better, especially the lighting, player models, and pitch/kit degradation, those along with the new emotions, and the new pitch improvements(corner flags, ads, goal posts) should all add up to a much better in game experience.
For a game purported to be 50 to 60 percent complete, I'm liking what I'm seeing, questions do remain however, the two biggest for me being club/player individuality, and the "big fight feel" that FIFA so sorely lacks during big match ups. Time will tell if these were addressed as well.

We all love graphical upgrades, but when is it enough for when they will actually do the things I mentioned in this topic earlier? Just starting with player ID and actual team tactics/tendencies would be a good start.

I'm not impressed by EA, and I've learned to know better due to their past.

can't wait to see my goofy AI club defender's hair flipping to and fro when another over the top thru ball is placed a yard over his head.

i will be in awe of the pitch degradation after my AI defenders trip over themselves retreating to get back and defend yet another over the top thru ball

My weakness here is that I'm not sure what these NG machines are actually capable of as far as intelligent tactical decision making goes, but I think your ideas, while spectacular, may be a bit beyond their capabilities. What your asking for is basically human intelligence that adapts on the fly constantly based on the situation(because after all, if you expect Monaco to adapt and start to feed crosses into Falcao, you certainly have to also expect their opponents to counter that move with one of their own, then rinse and repeat). IMO, that's simply not feasible, but again its just my opinion.
As for player/club ID's, I absolutely 100% agree that they need to do a better job here, and from what I understand FIFA 15 is much improved(my colleague at FSB had a play test a couple of weeks ago) with star players standing out from the crowd and playing the way they do in real life(Sturridge for example almost exclusively uses his left foot). As for team tactics, they need to get this right and I'm hoping they do, but I'm certainly not going to bash them on the presumption that they didn't.

I really hope they improve the referee logic for calling fouls & offsides, which could meld very well with the new possession tackles & physical shoulder charge type defending. I'm going to be real pissed if Demichellis shoulder barges Neymar, knocks him down & takes possession every time with no foul being called.

And the addition of the player emotions begs for offsides to be call more realistically. Players would explode in anger & assault the ref for some of the horrid calls that are made in Fifa14. I would also want to see blown offside calls, both directions. Hell, make it an option to turn on/off if the devs think it will cause anger in ranked online matches.

We need more variety in the way a game is refereed to go along with the player reactions. I want someone to be sent off on straight RC for a iffy tackle & see a huge argument ensue with the ref. I want to see the team captain pleading with the ref not to show the RC. I want the sent off player to leave the pitch in anger.....and none of that is possible unless the ref logic is improved.

I really liked the portion near the end of the vid where they talk about changing tactics mid game. This is such a needed addition, and I hope it is dynamic based on the skill/level of the manager in charge. Changes in formations mid match would be nice also, and better "tactical" substitutions, pulling off a defensive mid for an attacker when trailing and the subsequent form change. And I'd love to see the crowd actively cheering a positive change and getting upset if the current tactic isn't working & the gaffer doesn't adapt.

It's the same with the NHL series. All players and teams play the same.

I don't blame the devs any more. I think this is coming from the top. Changing AI is time consuming, expensive and isn't worthy of 'back of the box' bullet points.

The sad thing is, the majority of gamers are casuals and they go nuts over things like moving hair and dynamic jersey's flapping on windy days.
