    Form & Developing Players

    Couple questions:

    1. What are the best ways to keep a players form up and what negatively effects it?

    2. What is considered good form and bad form numbers wise?

    3. Is the best way to develop young players to loan them out for the full season or will they still develop if you have them play spot games for you here and there?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Re: Form & Developing Players

Hopefully I can answer your third question...

In my career mode where I've brought up 81 youth players, I tried to loan everyone out for a while. Playing time is key. They can be a starter in the worst league around and progress more than if they were a reserve at, you know, Real Madrid or somewhere. playing time is key.

      1. What are the best ways to keep a players form up and what negatively effects it?

Playing is the only way to keep form. And playing well. If you bench them for a couple games in a row they they will drop in form. If they play a couple bad games in a row they will drop in form.

      2. What is considered good form and bad form numbers wise?

Anything above a 7.0 is good form. Anything below a 6.0 is bad form.

      3. Is the best way to develop young players to loan them out for the full season or will they still develop if you have them play spot games for you here and there?

They might get one or two points by sitting on the bench. But having them play is what will make it go faster. The better the form, the faster the movement. So if you are not going to play them in more than a handful of games, loan them out. That team will most likely play them much more than you. I've loaned young players that were 58 rated and they've come back 63. And then the following season a 67, and so on. But I've also loaned about players of the same rating they only came back a 2 points higher, so its not guaranteed. It depends on how much they play him and how well he does. It depends on the player also, and what their potential is. Which will affect how far they can develop and how fast it will occur. The higher the potential the faster they develop (depending on position, GK develop the slowest, ST the fastest in my experience)

This is why paying attention to the potential rating of a youth player is important. If you have a guy rated at say 40-45, but his potential is 75-90, you want to sign him. And loan him out for a few seasons. But say you have a guy rated 58-64 but his potential is 67-75, you don't want to sign him. Ya he may be better at first, but hes not a good long term sign. But then again you can sign him and sell him to make some transfer money also.
