ive never played PES, but all these posts i see about how it indeed is better simulation wise really makes me want to give it a go. ive been a hardcore fifa fan ever since i could remember, even though im from the states soccer (dont call it futbol cause im not gonna pretend like im from europe over here) has always been in my blood ever since i was born, my family came over from portugal so i literally breathe this sport, i never gave PES a shot because i never wanted to buy both games and always thought FIFA was better... now im considering trying PES cause i need that better experience, theres so many things wrong with FIFA, dont even get me started on the 50/50 balls MY GOODNESS. im not saying fifa is bad, its not by any means IMO, but its not enough either...Comment

[QUOTE=Krebstar;2046572136]Hooray! Perfect CPU clearances that immediately start the counter don't happen nearly as much as prior versions of fifa. A video of a more typical CPU clearance this year.
And hooray again because the CPU slide tackles and fouls now!
These things are great, especially considering it's last gen. Are the fouls fairly rare, or do they seem like with 10-15 minute halves they'll be decent?Comment

I honestly think they will be decent.
One huge plus for me is I can draw fouls this year. As the ball comes to me I hold LB to "slow down time" this does one of two things in both CG and NG xbox versions.
1. it backs the CPU off, they are less inclined to get up in your face on defense
or
2. it draws them in but they become less precise with their aggression. LB lets me take these little micro touches that keep the ball from them and keeps my player between them and the ball.
point 2 creates the fouls. Just doing a lot of LB and LT pressing as I gather the ball baits the CPU into fouling.
It's how I drew that PK in the video I posted above. As the pass came in I held LB and waited for the CPU CB to move across my right hip then spun off him and towards goal. I caught him flat footed and he had no choice but to foul.
These things happened last year kind of but were never called fouls. Last year (and previous) the CPU would just man handle you off the ball with no chance of a foul being called.Last edited by BL8001; 09-10-2014, 03:43 PM.resident curmudgeonComment

Love the park the bus setting. Was up 1 with 20 min left and my AI teammates actually played defense without me having to do everything.Moderator

They seem at least they should be fairly decent, with a couple of cards at least per game. Again though, this is the Gamescom build so who knows what's changed since June or July(when the demo was most likely produced). That aside, I'm fairly confident it'll be better than the last few years.
If this is true I feel much better about some of the mindless defending because that means maybe this was just an adjustment cycle while they were tweaking in some of the new changes to game play.
I do not agree with prior reports about the game play changes being subtle.
Poor CPU clearances, a better CPU offense, keepers that makes saves but don't always make clean grabs or lev yashin miracle finger touches that deflect quality strikes around the post, tougher crossing and fouls being called to me are massive changes to the game. For the good.resident curmudgeonComment

The demo for PES is out next week... Give it a go I guess. From 1998 to 2007 they completely dominated the footie games market but they really did struggle with the next generation and FIFA seemed to really get interesting. FIFA 09 was so exciting for me. It's a good year (so people are saying) to get into PES, I guess it can't do any harm trying the demo dude. If you like buid up play, teams setting up like they would in real life, players actually having identity with how they move around the pitch and so on then you'll like it... Providing that PES get it right...Comment

I don't want to turn this into a PES vs Fifa Thread but where PES has failed to me in the last few years it has been in the gameplay in Final Third of the pitch whether your playing offence or defence. Fifa has always been the opposite of this to me except on the defence part.
I haven't been into either in the last few years and it breaks my heart because I love me some futbol/soccer but both games have disappointed me over the last 5 or so years. Hopefully I can get back into this year but I am already not to please with one game already.Comment

After some play time, I not really enamored with my defenders, they stink. I understand have the guy with the ball being user dynamic, but damn everyone's not Pele, sheesh."I've Altered The Deal..."Comment

Hopes are that this is just down to an early build of the demo.
I want to hear from PS4 people if they are seeing the terrible defending paths the defense takes and horrible decision making they do that happens on the xbox one FIFA demo.resident curmudgeonComment

The defenders can just be so mindless. It's inexcusable. Are you on xbox one? or 360?

Re: FIFA 15 Demo Available Now on Xbox One, 360, PC, PS3 - Soon For PS4
Just a quick point on the earlier 'realism' debate:
Surely if Kompany won every header, Sterling never scored from 40 yards, and Torres' weak foot resulted in guaranteed corner flag hits, the game would be dull and boring.
The whole point of realism, and what makes a sports game great, is that nothing is impossible. Yes, Sterling will probably never score from 40 yards in his life, but it doesn't mean he can't do it. That's what made PES great, and I love the fact that some people are complaining about the unpredictability of things in FIFA. Why? Because it means they are doing it right.
I use The Show as an example. I once threw 10 perfect innings with Gil Meche. That's not a likely occurance, but I've also been able to score 10 runs off Felix Hernandez. 9 times out of 10 he is impossible to hit against, but I know that it is possible, and that's why I love that game. That's why I used to love Pro Evo, and hopefully that will carry on being a huge part of why I love FIFA.Last edited by woody2goody; 09-10-2014, 05:02 PM.Supporting Leeds United, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Lions and the Colorado Avalanche!

I'm sorry if this has been asked already but when is the demo out for PS4 users in Canada/USA?
I'm not seeing it anywhereComment
