For as good as the animations can be at times I still feel like the physicality could be represented a little better. Especially with the players not going to ground as often as they do in real life.

I got in a quick game at lunch, probably not enough of a sample to post impressions, but I'm a hasty mofo so here goes:
Pros:
-Graphics were better than I expected, although I was playing the Liverpool/Man City game where all the faces have been scanned properly. Not sure what to expect from smaller clubs.
-Crowd was pretty good. They look good, they were pretty quiet when the away team scored, and pretty rowdy when the home team scored. Chants sounded good too.
-No cheesy header goals!!! Yessssssssssss!
-Defense wasn't nearly as problematic for me as some posts have indicated. Good positioning can get you the ball back, but sometimes the offensive player pulls a good move and beats you. Fair enough.
-Commentary was excellent as usual. I loved the player intros as well.
-Replays were awesome.
-Fouls appear to be spot on. Had 2 yellow cards called against the CPU, and several other fouls called appropriately.
-CPU moved ball around well. Not tons of backwards passes, but they did a good job of passing to open men and not going straight at goal 100% of the time.
Cons:
-For all the improved GK talk, I was somewhat unimpressed, at least with my keeper. Both goals conceded were hit directly at him and he completely wiffed on both. Granted, they were close range and struck well, but watching the replays, he should have at least gotten a hand on both attempts.
-Shooting animations still seem limited. One of my favorite things about PES is the vast range of shooting animations, especially when close to goal. In FIFA, it seems like the guys always take a full swipe at the ball, even in situations where a little dink would work better. I'll reserve judgement on this until I play more.
All in all, I was more impressed with the game than I expected to be. I am definitely buying PES this year, but I'd consider getting FIFA as well for a nice change of pace, as I do most years. Looking forward to more time with the demo this evening.Comment

Re: FIFA 15 Demo Available Now on Xbox One, 360, PC, PS3, PS4
Yeah, this is still high. Good teams average in the low 80s most matches, and some teams end up in teh 60s and 70s, but the cpu is always in the 80s no matter what team you are playing. In the case of the demo it's high eighties to low nineties.
This affects so much from defending to cpu attacking, to top, and as a result the player's ability to gain the ball to attack.
Last year cpu passing also affected cpu attacking and shooting. Not noticing this in the demo, so that would be a plus if pass error can be increased, but the cpu can still mount solid attacks.XBOX ONE: FIFA 15, SOUTHAMPTON CM:

FIFA needs a bunch more in close shot animations. I think this will inevitably come to be. With the devs loosening the gameplay up a little each title release and more random things happening around the goal mouth they are going to be almost forced to add in some new ones to complete those animations correctly.
It particularly frustrating when you want that quick lunge type shot and the player is trapped in a long distance type shot animation.
To do it right they just need a batch of shot types and animations that only would occur in the box and then ones that only would occur in the 6 box. Context relative shot animations.resident curmudgeonComment

I agree. It really does show itself close to goal. This is like in NHL when you have a full windup slap shot or in close, a quick wrister.

valid point. it just doesnt seem like it will change by much IMO, maybe by 3-4% but i could certainly be wrong, will hold judgement til full release of course, but i do feel like passing has always been rather high percentages of completion for the AI in all fifas. just my opinion.Comment

No, I agree completely, hence I'm not going slider crazy, but as we've said even with this, it is an easy fix. Ideally I'd like a game that plays well with 8 minute halves, managed to after a few months get 14 to play well on 10min halves, so I have more hope this year than last.XBOX ONE: FIFA 15, SOUTHAMPTON CM:

I agree it ain't bad if you're unsure of things, but whenever I leave it, the player switches when I don't want it to, resulting in BADDD things.:0XBOX ONE: FIFA 15, SOUTHAMPTON CM:

Listen.. if people can't tell what difficulty they are playing on - it's totally meaningless going crazy like "my AI teammates are not defending" and "I've scored 4 out of 5 long shots WTF!".
But hey - are you on Legendary or Semi-Pro???
It's quite important to know before you moan about the gameplay!
Anyway here is my stats after 3 games on Legendary, Slow, semi-assisted - I'm playing home all 3 games:

Re: FIFA 15 Demo Available Now on Xbox One, 360, PC, PS3, PS4
I am on Pro with no slider changes.
But you have it backwards I think. Every FIFA made up to this point when you played on AM your CPU players were brilliant and the CPU opposing team was brain dead everywhere.
On semi pro your CPU players were brilliant and the CPU opposing team was mediocre everywhere.
On pro your CPU players were competent and the CPU opposing team was competent on D and miserable on attack.
On world class CPU players were a bit crippled and the CPU opposing team was rigid in defense and a little more potent but cheaty on attack (see numerous matches with 1-1 scores where the user has 18 shots and the CPU has 1).
On legendary I never really went there. FUT legendary was enough to turn me off to this difficulty level.
But never have the back 4 been this clueless on PRO in FIFA. And when I point these things out I am not talking about the CPU. I am talking about my CPU controlled players.
Yes, the popular retort is control the defenders. But I am not someone hopped up on redbull flicking around the back 4 player to player herding them about like stray cats making sure they don't mindlessly wander away from the threat that is the ball.
It's pointless to argue this though because it is a demo and we have no idea what the full game is like until next Thursday with EA access. But I am not making this up, I have put up videos that show the CPU controlled defenders getting out of the way of the CPU attacker. This did not happen in prior FIFA's to this frequent degree and that is the main concern for me.
Otherwise I am quite pleased with FIFA 15.resident curmudgeonComment
