I'll give that a shot, thanks!

The game thinks the AI deserves a goal because of momentum, so they pull this crazy crap on me where there's a huge mix up in which guy I control and the ball goes in because my AI d-man doesnt even attempt to stop the attacker. Knocking it down one difficulty isnt an option as it's far too easy. Just seems very cheap still, regardless of how much better the action looks.

Any tips? Obviously I need to improve in general. I'm a full manual player who is finding it difficult to adapt to passing this year, and as a result can't retain possession as well as I was last year. Also, the new animations and ball dribbling is great, but like others have said already, I think the defense has been left behind. if youre challenging an attacker and try to run to grab the ball off the opposing player, even if it is available for the taking, if you dont run exactly right at it, your player will run straight brushing right by the attacker and not even make an attempt at the ball, and look as if the play has moved far past the opposing player. It's a bit weird, though I can get used to it.

You really have to try harder in defending. If you have space somewhere, CPU will use it, that´s granted.

That's part of it. Another big part is that if you allow yourself to be lead out of position or make a commitment at the wrong point you leave your remaining defenders in positions where they can be exploited.

You can also look at the individual settings for players and adjust them based on your playing style. Sometimes I find the default settings too passive allowing too much time to the ball carrier to find that through ball.

The big picture is that the game is a blast. I've found a difficulty and a slider set that I like and have gone on my merry way. So far no two games have really been the same which is awesome. Goals go in different ways and games have felt truly alive. As much as I loved FIFA 14, it almost did not matter who you were playing against, the game would follow usual patterns and have the same rhythm. So far in FIFA 15 I haven't seen it.

Sorry but I really loved this one. Just like me, I was constantly looking at the tiny fails and small details, that eventually would become a gamebreaker. Not anymore!
I wanna have fun playing and this game is soooo awesome if you just look at the "big picture"!!

This isnt the problem at all. They rarely score an actual goal on me. Almost all goals scored on me at this point are crossed in headers or passes into a sort of group of players where the AI gives me the wrong player and I'm too far away to react and by the time I manage to get to the right player, the damage is done. I'm not leaving space open, they start a standard attack that looks like a standard defensive situation, but they give me the wrong player.

I'm much more willing to believe this is part of the problem. I'll look into it, thanks for your opinion.

Yep, this was an issue in the demo and it's disappointing they chose NOT to fix it.

Hmm, strange. I´m on PC here and didn´t notice that much. Maybe its just me distracted with all the other good stuff... I did find defending extremely hard (I´m not any hardcore fan anyway), so I changed to legacy defending and of course, it improved like hell. Suits me for sure. Also playing in a mix of semi and assisted settings on WC and all matches are a blast.

NOTE: I started a thread earlier on these incidents I noticed, but realized I could have just posted it here (my apologies to the mods)...

                      ****

I noticed in 2 matches I had last night, Chelsea (me) - Aston Villa (Match Day Live) and ManU (me) - PSG that when a CB, LB, or RB would get injured, play would not stop and they would nonchalantly walk off the field ... This had a HUGE influence in the outcome of my ManU - PSG match b/c I was up 1 goal and my CB got injured. He then walks off the field and Matuidi sends a through ball into Ibra. I was thinking, damn, he is WAY OFFSIDES, so was expecting the flag to go up. Then I see Ibra bang the goal into the net and no flag! So I got into instant replay and I see my CB who was hobbling off the field kept Ibra onsides...

Then in my next game as Chelsea, I got the advantage b/c the Aston Villa RB gets injured, hobbles off, and I send in a beautiful through ball, but noticed in the bottom right corner of my screen that there is a dude just chillin' like a boss, walkin' off the field with no care in the world. BUT I miss the shot! LOL!

Just wondering if anyone has had this happen before. I thought that when there is an injury, ref will stop play and then the team with the injured player will send the ball out and play will resume.

BUT overall this game is awesome! The immersion, player emotion, broadcast presentation, and overall gameplay has been impressive.

Anyone encounter this as of yet?

I'm glad I found this topic so I can post a couple impression (and gripes) of FIFA 15 from my first couple days playing. Most of these are on the field things, gameplay, AI, graphics, etc. The game modes (namely the lack of anything new) is disappointing, but expected from EA.

                        The Good:
                        - Dribbling feels much more responsive, its now possible to beat a defender without using the ridiculous skill moves.
                        - When playing in career mode, opposing teams clearly change tactics during the game (although Alan Smith instantly pointing it out is a little cheesy). Weaker teams will also sit back and defend.
                        - Lighting is noticeably improved, and rainy conditions now look great, no more stupid rain streaks in front of the camera!

                        The Bad:
                        - Goalkeepers are ridiculous. They save vicious bombs heading for the top corner, but let in trickers. Sure it looks great, but it's like the dev team watched a great saves montage on YouTube and decided that's how all keepers are. It's one thing when Courtois or Neuer make a spectacular save, but when I'm playing in the Championship and I can't get a shot past Adam Federici, something isn't right.
                        - To make matters worse, shooting is far too floaty. That's not to say shots are slow or inaccurate, they just act like fast-traveling beach balls. I play with a fairly poor team (Fulham) in CM, but I can count on one hand the number of shots I've had that really felt satisfying. EA, if you're going to mare the keepers ridiculous, give shooting some weight and give attackers a chance.
                        - "Emotional Intelligence" feels more like a gimmick than anything of substance. Beyond players going chest-to-chest after fouls, it really isn't noticeable.

                        Rant over.

In general FIFA 15 is fun to play, and sliders save the day for some problems, but I agree with others that have said this feels more like FIFA 14.5 than FIFA 15.

I don't understand people like Orion who claim shots are overpowered and should have the slider lowered.

I also noticed this in the demo & early access, and hoped it was more prevalent in the full game, but alas.

For such a hyped feature it sure doesn't really do that much. I can have a player get demolished on a slide tackle and barley react at all. There is virtually zero dissent towards refs. Players get in each others face rarely. It could have been so much more.

Maybe there is more use of emotions in CM, when matches mean more....

I'm loving the BPL presentation and commentary. It even remembers your squad from previous games and points out changes made. It commented that I replaced Herrerra with Mata due to poor form. Love that during goal kicks they add in a graphic about your next match and talking points related to it.

Gameplay is much improved and each game doesn't feel like a carbon copy of the last. I was playing QPR at home (as Man U), was looking more and more like a 1-1 draw, so much in fact I actually changed tactics to make sure I didn't give up a late winner. Then in the 80' minute a QPR player makes a completely idiotic tackle on Rooney and his rightfully sent off (another improvement from '14, I've seen 10 cards in total over my first 4 league matches). I instantly switch to a 4-3-3 used my last sub to bring on an attacking midfielder. QPR who was playing some bright football goes into shell, takes off it's striker for a defender and desperately cling to the draw only to have me fire in a winner during stoppage time, sending the Old Trafford faithful into a camera shaking frenzy!

I don't get why people complain about defending lapses in the game, or that the AI doesn't always pick up the right man. If players were perfect in real life you'd have 99% of games played to 0-0 draws! mistakes happen, assignments get missed, I don't want AI that knows where to be and who to mark every single second of the match. I've seen them get it spot on and seem them totally blow coverage and allow a sitter. Watch some EPL this weekend, some of the miscues are so bad they're laughable from pros. I know it's frustrating when it happens to you in the game, but it's even more frustrating watching Man U's defense stand around ball watching in real life, which happens every week!
