CM Player Growth

So I'm playing with Fulham in my CM, and I'm trying to develop my younger players and recruit new young players through my youth setup. I have a few questions that I'm wondering if anyone can answer:

- Do young players (real players) change in appearance? Do they grow or fill-out like real 17-18 year olds do by the time they reach their early 20s?

- What's the best way to get an idea of how much potential my young players have? Or is it just blind luck? I'd like to avoid giving young players a ton of first team minutes if they won't develop beyond 65-70.

- What's the best way to bring youth squad players into my team? When should I promote them? What age? Should I bring them up and loan them out?

The way I do it:

The first 5 or 10 matches in my Career Mode I check my players growth after EVERY single match, to see who's growing the most (after let's say 5 matches)

It's a good way to spot a talent in the squad.

Is this always permanent player growth though? I think some of it is form related growth that goes away once form does. RVP went up 1 after 2 matches with me in which he scored 3 scores was man of the match and in excellent form, I don't think RVP is going to benefit much from permanent growth at this point in his career.

Yeah I always thought that was purely based on form.

I think it's a bit of both to be honest, Januzaj went up by 5 in that screen in '14 and it stuck around after his good run of form was over. I like that it's both though, makes choosing your squad a little more interesting when players form puts their rating about your usual starter.

Yeah I always thought that was purely based on form.

I don't think it is - form is shown by arrows (up and down)

I'm 100% sure the growth doesn't go away when it's first there.
I've never seen than before in my 9 seasons in FIFA 14.
