Issue with fouls

After my first few matches, I was extremely happy that there appeared to be more foul calls than previous years. However, now that I've played about 20 matches I'm frustrated. Sure there are more foul calls, but it's mostly because there's more fouls. The computer is still getting away with a lot of overly physical play and a ton of reckless slide tackles.

Do you agree? Know of a way I can fix this (sliders?)?

I was about to post something concerning fouls and saw this. When I first played a few of the games, seem like I had a number of fouls called. But in my last handful of games, I am not seeing any called, except maybe 1 or 2 at times. I have seen other people say the fouls were improved this year so was thinking this would not be an issue.

Within settings, didn't notice anything they could impact fouls unless I have overlooked.

The different refs may actually show a substantial difference in foul/card Strictness. Try in a kickoff using a strict strict ref and see if it changes.

I agree and I think the are walking a fine line here. Yes there are many more fouls being called against the AI this year but it feels like I am wondering "HTF do they not call a foul on that play?" Just as often as I did last year. But if they called everything that should be a foul some games would be nonstop free kicks. So maybe it is better that they are taking baby steps on this one.

However it definitely feels like the obvious/dramatic send the dribbler head over head fouls are the ones that aren't called. The ones where my star striker spends 5 minutes flat on the pitch with my heart in my throat wondering if this is the time he doesn't get up.

Yeah exactly. They're calling the lighter fouls but then they'll slide tackle Eden Hazard into oblivion and nothing.

Where can you change the refs in a game? Can't find an option.

Huh. Looks like its gone from the main settings menu. It used to be an option under match settings in 14

Granted I am on the last gen but this should still be the same. I started a manager with Bayern and I had one game against Borussia Dortmund and there were 11 yellow cards handed out 2 of which were 2nd yellows leaving me with 9 players on the field. So it seems I am having a different problem than you guys. Where I am having too many fouls being called. I had one where Robben nudged a guy and he got a yellow for it.

Yeah, part of the package of more fouls called is that I am getting carded more often even though the number of fouls against me is about the same. Just more cards to go with the whistles. I rarely slide tackle and this year it is quickly becoming I NEVER slide tackle. The risk/reward is definitely heavier on the risk side against my manual defense, but I feel the calls against me this year are correct more often than not and feels more authentic. Now if next year the authentic manual calls can bleed over to authentic AI calls; without going too far and drowning every game in cards; it will be another step in a better sim experience IMO.
