    Yellow Card Rules

I am a soccer (football) noob, but a huge sports fan. Forgive me for not understanding why several of my players have a yellow card match after match after match. I thought one game after receiving the yellow card, it should be cleared. Why do these players keep their yellow cards? How do they get cleared?

Yellow cards accumulate and then after 3-5 yellow cards (some competitions vary) they then receive a suspension for receiving too many yellows.

And two yellows in one match = a red, and the player is sent off.

I knew about the two yellow cards in one game = red card suspension.

I'm doing a career in the Football League 2. I just looked up the rules for the FA. Five yellows during the season result in a suspension, although there are cutoff dates.

Thanks for the answers. I'm learning!

Also a straight red is an automatic 3 match ban in England but FIFA has always gotten this wrong and only suspends for one match which is the rule if you get 2 yellows in one game and are sent off.

Not entirely true. It's an automatic three match ban if the red card is for violent conduct. If it's professional foul or deliberate handball in the box, etc, it's only one match. And if it's for a verbal offence it's two matches.
