    FIFA Noob. HEEEELP!

I'm a total FIFA noob. I've made the change from Madden this year to FIFA and have some basic questions.

First, I am on the 360 but I thought I'd find more help here. I have started a Manager career and played about 6 games so far on 10 minute halves with sliders from the last gen forum on WC (I think. I'm set to w/e the 2nd toughest level is). The game is playing fine, stats are fairly even, etc. Game play isn't really my issue.

My issue is Team Management. I feel like I'm sorting through 25 or more scouted guys a week but I have no clue why. The few that I've tried to buy/loan have all failed because I don't have the wage $ available. I really just don't understand much of anything about the global xfer network. If I leave it alone will it greatly hinder my progress? Is there anything anywhere that really explains in detail how the transfer process system works?

    Please be kind.

    Re: FIFA Noob. HEEEELP!

I dont use the GTN to much. Esp in my first season. I try to make my career mode as realistic as possible, waiting for the january transfer window before making changes. I do however look at who is performing and who isnt happy and where my weakness is before informing my scouts on what to look for.

I dont think it will hinder you right away. Its when people retire/become frustrated with minutes or just "homesick" where it becomes a factor. If you dont have some transfers your considering, then you will end up with a team worse off. I never used to worry about that stuff as I never get through more than 1 season per team but this year Im looking to get through atleast 3 w LFC.

And with not getting through that many seasons, I never see if the youth actually grows into something great either...I kind of miss a lot in CM, but my attention span is pathetic.

You're a lucky guy sir. The more you know about the game the worse it is. Like me playing Madden. I know the rules, I use some sliders and have fun because I don't have the experience to spot the flaws and other problems.

I don't use the gtn scouts. Go to sofifa.com . You will be able to sort and find anyone you need. I'm guessing you are playing as a MLS team (small budget). It's tricky finding players on a small budget. Try the EPL

I also use sofifa.com to pick the players I want. But I always scout them also. I know it's a waste of time and money to pay the scouts, but it just adds to the career mode experience for me.

I'm playing as a Karlsruhe, germany team since I was stationed there. Buying FIFA and playing as an American team just seemed contrary, lol. Thanks for the link.

I know you man! Sort of. You're pretty big over on the Madden boards. I used to play Madden a lot. But since Madden 25 SMH. I played maybe two full games after that, I couldn't get past the first quarter, too boring and everyone is rated 90 OVR! Crazy!

Anyways Global Transfer Network. I don't like to use it. It was a new feature last year. It's a nice idea. Lets say you have one or two scouts and you like the look of Tim Howard, but you're playing as New York Red Bulls. You can't see his stats, his OVR or anything. When you search for his name and then click on him you'll see "Ask (scouts name) to scout Tim Howard". It'll take maybe a week or two, your scout will return and you'll be able to see Tim's stats and his OVR. It basically tells you the players stats and how much he's potentially worth.

Instead of GTN, what I like to do is grow youth players. Go over to office and there you will see "Youth Staff" hire a scout (for a general rule try to hire a 3 star experience, 3 star judgement scout or higher). Then you can send your scout to anywhere in the world to find the best the country has to offer. Reports will come back each month for you to sign or reject the players you like. Again, try to go no lower than 70 potential. Ignore OVR. Focus on player potential, usually it'll say like 70-90 or 65-80 or whatever. Don't go lower than 70. Usually those tend to be the very best players.

Depending on how many FIFA coins you have, you could purchase the "Financial Takeover" this means, your club will have "new owners" for a season and will give you like £50 million for the seasons transfer budget.
If you go to the "Transfers" tab in manager mode. At the bottom you'll "Finances" tap on that and you can adjust the slider to give yourself more money to buy players with or more money for players wages / contracts. General rule is - in my opinion - try and keep them around 50/50 and you can't go too wrong.

If you want to buy some young, cheap talent, sofifa is good, but I've been using fifascoutingtips "So you want a..." series. Since FIFA 12. The guy has a youtube channel and is currently giving out his recommendations for FIFA 15. Really good website.

I've wrote a lot. You might already know all this stuff, but, if not I hope this helps man and Roll Tide!

                Re: FIFA Noob. HEEEELP!

Thank you very much, sir! I'll look into the youth stuff tonight. I'm just learning my way around and am totally clueless. First few days in FIFA land have been tough, lol. The first night I wanted to just scrap this whole idea and go get Madden but I swore to myself I'd play FIFA until next summer when I buy a NextGen console.

                Thanks for the help.

That's how I got here from Madden. I've been playing Madden so long that and know its flaws so well that the game stopped being fun. What I'm finding out now is that I miss the camaraderie that I had with my league mates....within the confines of our XBL parties and forums we discussed the league just as if it was the real NFL. Sometimes, we all just need a little perspective to appreciate things.

                      Re: FIFA Noob. HEEEELP!

I try to be as real as possible, but I use GTN much much more then everyone else. I never search for players with the menu, I only scout and sign players that my GTN Scouts have found. sofifa.com is a great resource, though I haven't touched it since FIFA 08.

I try to have at least 3 scouts, 2 scouting leagues in the area, then one to stay at the club to get the final scouting report on anyone I would want to sign.

Here are some rules that user ZO used for FIFA 14
Also thanks to user ZO on here, I’ll be using his list of house rules that he used for FIFA 14.

                      1. Never allowed to buy more than 3 players a season.
                      2. Players over 30 get sold, if they don't sell I try to loan.
                      3. Any player with high demand from big teams that offer big money get sold. No exceptions, everyone is for sale for the right price.
                      4. Only allowed to bring up 4 youth players a year. 5 if one is a GK. Only allowed to keep 2 on the roster for next season. Cut or sell. If loaned they get another year to prove themselves on the team.
                      5. No starting 11 player can play in a cup game before the quarter finals, unless if necessary due to small roster or injury. And then they are subs, not starters.
                      6. If on a 5 game winning streak. Next game must be simulated.
                      7. If a player gets a red card, they will miss three games. I add two games myself to the suspension. If a player gets a suspension due to yellow build up, they miss 3 games also.
                      8. Captain is always a defender or mid. Never a GK or ST. Its rotated based on performance every five games.
                      9. Any player that creates a buzz about themselves in the media about being unhappy or missing home, regardless of the usual turn around that they will stay, gets traded. I don't have time for your look at me nonsense. This is a team.
Some of ZO's I use, but some I don't, like #4 I use, but I loan my players out, and #8 if I think my keeper has shown worth, I will make him the captain, Same with strikers.

Good luck sir, Footy is a game of patients and a roller coasters of highs and lows, be ready brethren.

After not posting here since I guess 2014, I found that my signature had an old slider set for FIFA 15... super awkward...

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions. I haven't won a game yet but I'm getting there. The 1st few were, on average, 4-0 or worse. I've got them down now to 2-1/3-2 type games. Expecting Karlsruhe to get their 1st W this weekend.

Don't be too proud to try the sliders! I'm not very good either, and I'll never be, but I really enjoy playing this game right now. I play at Pro level, but when I moved up to Pro, I was no match for the AI defense. It was too frustrating even trying to move the ball to the other end. I've found moving the AI speed, acceleration, and marking slider down to about 45 make it much more competitive and enjoyable for me. I'll adjust that when and if I get too good!

I'm sure many in here consider that cheating, but it's all about keeping it fun for me.

I am using a slider set from the LastGen forums. I think there's a little too much scoring and my defenders don't seem to attack the guy with the ball (ballcarrier?) very aggressively but I'll get to that stuff later when I understand more about the game. Right now, I'm just trying to get a grip on the passing and how to set things up.

Most of my goals right either come from rebounds (off the GK, post, or a defender) or because I sprinted down 1 sideline and crossed into the middle and got lucky. My dribbling skills are very weak and so is my field vision. I have a few assists on for now but hope to go all manual eventually.
