    First Touch Controls

Using Matt 10's sliders, playing on World Class, 3-Star Champion League team, on PS4.

So I'm relatively inexperienced with FIFA, and I'm having lots of trouble with very heavy first touches. I'm wondering if the relative heaviness comes at all from how "hard" I'm pressing the Right Stick in a direction? Like, if I barely touch the stick to the right, will that punt the ball out slightly less?

Obviously this has a lot to do with a player's skills, situational effects, and so on. But even when a pass heads towards a standing-still CAM, I feel as though these first touch moves are rocketing away from my players (and straight to the opposition).

You're using the R-stick as you receive the pass? It's not necessary. While it might result in some fancy flicks with skilled players in certain situations, if you're doing it regularly, you're overdoing it. Not to mention Matt's sliders have first touch error jacked up -- which I quite like -- making that stuff even less likely to work.

If you're looking to receive & turn, just use the L-stick to choose the direction. You can attempt to control the weight of your touch by holding L2 for more control, or R2 to try knocking the ball further from you (higher odds of bad touch). Also, holding L1 will face you towards goal and R1 will dummy, letting the ball run past you.

When you are receiving a pass and making your first touch: Hold L1. While holding L1 you make very very small touches while dribbling but of course you go very very slow. It's good for making movements in small spaces.
