More issues with this last night. If anyone plays with player lock on, it can really mess you up. Match was tied late and I tried to send my team into attack to get the win. My teammates took the ball to the corner flag to kill time.

I don't think this is isolated to player lock. Most likely if you are controlling the players yourself, you might not even notice your team was in 'park the bus' since you are moving the ball forward.

This situation just goes along with how the cpu team will also sometimes 'park the bus' when it is behind. All in all, it's a mess.

Ya I've noticed the park the bus thing. When I say go all out attack and I kick the ball off a goal kick with 86 mins in the game and see everyone except my striker drop back like I'm in the park of bus mentality it smells kinda fishy. If its late and I'm in the all out attack, I expect to see all my players plus their mothers pressing up the pitch to get the ball and not sit back

I think I'm going to avoid the quick tactics for my career mode for now. I guess there is nothing I can do about what the AI does for the cpu team though. I'm going to try and keep a close eye on them to see when these moments kick in. Maybe there is some sort of workaround or it's only happening on a particular difficulty level or match score.

It would be nice if EA could patch it, but I won't hold my breath for that. The crazy thing is this last patch had notes that said it fixed a bug in team mentality. Obviously, things are not completely sorted out in this area.
I like the instructions tab. I have a CB that has speed and heading ability. I have him "sometimes join the attack". Every once in a while he shows up in the box to head home a cross. He joins the fray on corner kicks, otherwise he would sit back.

It's also the only way I've found (other than player lock) to have a true target man that stays in the middle of the field where he is useful rather than wandering around everywhere. I also like my RB and LB to make runs up the field. Now I can tell my outside mids to pinch in so the outside backs have space to run up the sideline when I'm in my 4-2-3-1.

One thing that I haven't done but I've thought about is taking the same formation and setting up different instructions for in game adjustment. Set up a balanced 4-4-2, one that has virtually always go back on defense, and maybe one that is more attack minded. I think combining this formation change with a mentality adjustment would create truer in game adjustments. But I haven't tried that yet, maybe I will play with that next.

I finally had this (a team losing and parking the bus) happen the other day. I scored a late goal to pull ahead of the visiting team and they kept wasting time afterward.

My guess is that there's an AI check at around the 80th minute to determine the AI's ending tactic, and there's either a bug or just an oversight that doesn't have the AI re-check after the score changes.

I'm hoping I found a minor workaround with the cpu's late game tactic problems. Played a bunch of matches over the weekend and never had a problem.

What I've done is never use the gamepad to call for any quick tactics like 'all out attack' or 'park the bus'. I completely avoid the left gamepad during play. I always pause the game and change tactics through those menus. If I want to attack I go to high pressure, if I want to lay back I go to counter attack.

I've probably played 20 matches this way now and while the teams don't take the ball to the corner, I haven't seen some of the ridiculous tactics that just don't seem right. It's almost like the changes you make from the gamepad cause the cpu to adjust as well and things get all messed up.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm trying just about anything right now to avoid the situations where the cpu does nothing when they are down a goal.
