I did start over with Accrington. I changed to a larger stadium (26,500). I only signed guys under 60 ovr. I also increased my sliders, to make it more difficult (last time I won the league by 27 points......).

I think we kinda highjacked this thread. Sorry
Nah man keep going! I love reading about people's managerial careers.

MK Dons is an interesting team. As a Man Utd fan I don't really like them. But over here, the city of Milton Keynes is really new, 1967 - thanks wiki! So to have a team represent a new city and sort of put Milton Keynes on the map is interesting. And like you said, not a bad team, not a bad budget.

I chose Nott'm Forest because I live in Nottingham and wanted to take them back to the glory days. Plus I did a poll on here as to what team I should manage for FIFA 15 and Forest won!

I really wish I had done my career different. I bought lots of young players like Luciano Vietto and Simmone Scuffet so they would develop into beats, which they have. I kept some original members like Britt Assombalonga, Jamaal Lascelles and brought back Nathaniel Chalobah. So I had a good mix.

What I wanted to do was try the January Loan Trick so I could turn the younger Forest players into beasts, I tried to do it but it wouldn't work.

Any tips and tricks for basic gameplay mistakes that new people usually make? I've learned so far I can't just run to the corner and kick it to the middle for a header.

So far for me (new player this year) the ones I've had success with are; don't hold down sprint (use in short bursts) unless I'm barreling in for the keeper with wide open space, pass as soon as a player gets the ball in the midfield, use set peice routines on corners, don't make bonehead moves with the keeper on goal kicks (i.e. pass right to the opposing team).

Oh and, try not to take command of your defenders. They seem to play better when I don't control them!

          Re: FIFA Beginners Guide.

Just to kind of reiterate what Chef Matt said.

One of the most beginner mistakes I see is getting players out of their position. Offensively, not so much, but defensively this is huge.

New players tend to panic when they don’t have the ball and the CPU is lurking around the box. The best way to defend is to control your Central Defensive Midfielder or your Central Midfielder depending on what formation you play.

But rather than moving your centre backs out of position, control your central midfielders and let them make the tackles and win the ball back. If all else fails and the CPU is in the box about to score, then control your back four defenders or anyone to get the ball cleared!

Just be patient and try not to get frustrated. You will get the ball back and when you do, you just have to put together the best attack you can. Keep possession, don’t be in such a rush to score, pass the ball around, wait for opportunities and create chances.

Not really a mistake but a tip, learn how to score from free kicks, it’s a huge part of my game, I’ve scored two-three times in a single game from free kicks. It’s also a really cool feeling when you score from a free kick.

I started using the community sliders and am finally holding my own. My team is level 4 England, Carlisle United, and we've gotten crushed through September. I keep getting emails from the board about failing expectations...am I doomed? Should I restart? When do sackings occur?

Can you request more weekly wage funds? As FC Dallas I have $12 million in transfer funds, but can't afford to actually sign anyone worth trading for.

Players lose grades when they’re out of position. So try to keep them in position as much as possible, at least when defending. Making all of your passes helps too. When you have a corner and you have your CB’s ready to head the ball, try and cross it to them. Check out a corner tutorial on YouTube on how to score more frequently with corner kicks. Making tackles and I don’t mean sliding tackles or even standing tackles. But mark your man, stay in front of him, if he beats you, then your grade goes down because he’s run past you or whatever. I don’t know the controls for Xbox but for PS just be patient and use “X” to make the tackle when the time is right.

All these things combined should up your CB’s grades. I don’t think it does anything more than keep your players in form. Last year in FIFA 14, I believe that it helped the progression of players.

As for the substitutes, the good times to sub was something I saw in an article which, for me, was interesting. It has no affect either way in FIFA.
But yes, I know exactly what you mean. I saw this in FIFA 14 too. I’m not sure if it’s a bug, but when you do sub a player who might be 9.8 in a game, you sub him and then by the end of the game he’s like 8.9, it’s silly. And I don’t know why EA do that.

But I’ve had subs come into the game and score one or two goals and get a solid 8.2 grade. I think (just like real life) it depends on a few factors. What the situation is. If you’re 4-0 and your sub scores two goals, then maybe he’ll have a 7.2 grade. But, if you’re 2-0 down and your sub scores two or three goals, he could have a 9.5 grade. It depends how important the goals are. If he doesn’t score goals, but has a good game, then - also depending on how much time is left - he could get any type of grade.

So yeah, I don’t know about the player grades going down, that annoys me too. But I hope I answered your questions! Good questions too by the way!

                        Welcome newbie!

I guess you mean in the Player Performance? It basically means the players heat map. So where do they spend most of their time? If you have a couple wingers, naturally, they're going to spend a lot of time running up and down the wing. Maybe cutting in from time to time to make passes or take a shot.

Contrast that to the goalkeepers and you'll see they have red zones, that's because they never venture out beyond their line.

Position is important and it does affect player rating, how much, I don't know. I guess if you take your goalkeeper all the way to the other goal and try and get him to score (like shoot on target as opposed to going for a late header) then his rating may go down. So you kind of want to keep players in their positions.

Crap. I learned today that if a player wants out and you don't accept a transfer in time the CEO will go behind your back. Lost my best player who I had offers just days before for $7m for $4.1m. While in first, weeks before playoffs -_-

I think that also depends on the players' moral? If they're unhappy because they're missing home or they feel as though they're too big for the team or underpaid. They're like petulant children you kinda need to give them what they want!

Sometimes it can be resolved and the player will come back and say "I'm really behind this team now" or something. Other times it's what happened to you that happens. And seemingly it can happen out of the blue. Like a shock transfer request and they'll say he wants out.

One way to resolve it, is to put him on the loan list. I had Nathaniel Chalobah who wanted out, I put him on loan, he didn't even get loaned out and he shut up!

But nevertheless, I'm sorry to hear you lost your best player, you have a replacement though right?

Luckily I had signed some quality guys and had a backup that wasn't as good, but played regularly. Wasn't too big of a loss.

Actually had it happen to my goalie too. They gave me just enough time to counter offers, but then still shipped him away for cheap. I cheated this time and went back to the beginning of the transfer period.
