    Lack of cpu variation

Almost a great game for me, does everything well except variation in the cpu play. Seeing a couple cross field passes every other game is starting to grate with me now after playing for over 100 hours, just when I think I've found the right combination of sliders/tactics/instructions, nothing ever sticks. If the team tactics worked 100% it would have had it all.
The thing that gets me is that the game does have this stuff in there, if the cpu is losing last five minutes they go long ball, just seems there's no way to make teams have greatly varying styles from the first whistle. Sliders, tactics, custom ini's none of them seem to work.
Watching the video's of Pes 2015 just highlight this even more. The variation in passes by the cpu puts Fifa to shame, long, short, forwards, backwards and most tellingly airbourne, I don't play online so for me to be satisfied as a single player, team and player id is needed, I can only see Huddlestone burst into the box after playing a 1-2 on the edge of my area so many times, even though he's instruction is to always stay back.
Find myself excited for Pes release now because of these factors, which is disappointing, cause I'm not sure why it is Fifa is failing on what should be the fundamentals of a football game, I guess the single player experience doesn't bring in the money like the online side of the game.
Not bashing Fifa at all, it real is a very, very good game, which in some ways makes it's failings more apparent, it's the total package but it just feels to clinical, nothing has ever made me as emotional as scoring a winner with Burchet in ML on Superstar level.

    Re: Lack of cpu variation

I agree a bit with you on that. Great amazing game, with little variation from CPU. I do see some variation though, depending on what´s happening and on what team I´m facing. Of course it would be awesome if teams could play a little bit like real life counterparts, but they don´t. Companies only care about online players when I say F#%K online. I hate it, unless with some friend, wich is very rare.

Now don´t get too excited about PES. Its a major improvement over the last years, but I don´t think it still has what it takes to call it a winner. Only good thing I see there is CPU possession, but I could bet that in a couple weeks people will start moaning about many other things, as usual, like GK´s (wich to be honest, are way poor for a NG game). Plus, it doesn´t deliver the overall package and that´s why I got tired of it. Every year is the same thing and I always had to patch the game extensivly to enjoy it. So I said, "that´s it, I´m done with this". At least Fifa is extremely enjoyable out of the box.

Because of the online modes plus FUT is what most of their focus is on since that brings in the most money. And when you play those modes sliders and gameplay dont really make a difference since its mostly human vs human. Like I have said before, online gaming on the consoles has destroyed most sports titles because they are programming these games for human vs human interaction not how it used to be with human vs cpu.

        Re: Lack of cpu variation

It seems gameplay was barely touched from Fifa 14. I don't know how many hours I have put in across 14 and 15 (wish I could check that!), but I understand how you feel when you're deep enough that everything just seems the same. Slight variations here and there really don't hold up when 99% of the time the cpu is doing the exact same thing... even in champs league >_<

PES has been a breath of fresh air. I think it might go both ways though as, after enough time with one game or the other, switching games can really feel great. Personally, if you can see the cpu playing exactly the same in fifa, and you don't play online, it's time to jump ship and switch to PES.

          Re: Lack of cpu variation

Got PES last night, only played a couple of games but I've seen more variation from the cpu than in all the hours I've played with Fifa, that's straight out of the box as well, unfortunately I'm on PC and the game looks like something from the dark ages but hopefully that will get improved with modding.
What stands out is that the cpu reacts more to what you are doing in the game, if you cut off a passing lane it with immediately pass it backwards across and then goes again, as opposed to Fifa where it passes as a last resort, the amount of times I've seen a full back **** about with the ball for 10-15 seconds then punt it out for a throw in, when there was a easy pass to the cb or gk is ridiculous.
I don't actually want to give up on Fifa though, hopefully they patch it again and make tactics work.

            Re: Lack of cpu variation

Think about this, why would ea touch gameplay when all their money comes from online modes that are mostly human vs human? They dont care about cm or the gameplay when all their money comes from that stupid FUT mode.
But if you are looking for a slider set that is hard and actually see cpu build up check out Matt10L sliders in the os community slider thread. He has changed the game of fifa for a lot of players. It can be played on world class and legendary.
