    Schedules

So I've noticed something in recent fifa games about the scheduling of league games. Why on earth are games in the bpl being played during the week and scheduled a couple days apart?

It gets slightly annoying when I look at my schedule and see open weekends after seeing games scheduled during the week instead.

If someone could explain this logic I would greatly appreciate it. I understand cup games and such but I have never seen a bpl game played during the week except sometimes on Mondays and then having games reacheduled for no reason.

    Re: Schedules

Because of things like International breaks and the Cup Competitions - league games are played on Tuesdays/Wednesdays so that all the fixtures are completed in time for the end of season ( June).
Additionally, Sky TV have a lot of power today in rescheduling because some clubs will get more £ from Rupert Murdoch by selling the rights to the game than they would from the ticket money (hence the Championship having a 7:45pm Friday game).

Players can cope with playing 3 games in a week (Saturday - Tuesday - Saturday, sometimes Monday-Wednesday-Sunday) but you need a good 21 man squad to get 9 points from those games. Someone like Gerrard wont be playing 3x a week, he'll only play in the most important one of the 3. The younger guys can recover better (usually get Sunday off, train Monday morning, travel Monday Night/Tuesday morning, train Wednesday evening, Train Thursday morning, travel Friday).

Finally, Champions League games are played Mid week so that both domestic leagues can cope and avoid fixture congestion around xmas (Germany have a winter break of 2 weeks in December, as do most euro leagues). Xmas is chaos in England because we play on the 26th and usually a few days after before New Year and then another one in the first couple days of new year. Most teams train on xmas day, some get the morning off but it depends on the teams league position.

IMO There are too many competitions, most BPL teams toss the cup by fielding kids because they cant compete with Man City et al...

If you are in League One and below - you play the following cups:
    • FA Cup
    • League Cup
    • Johnston's Paint Trophy
    • Domestic League

(bear in mind BPL teams skip the first few rounds of the FA Cup, so even more fixtures for lower leagues to play)

Potential rewards from doing well in the cup include TV money and general money from the league. But its not all that its cracked up to be, especially in the main 2 cups.

Interestingly - my club has the worst record in England for winning on Tuesday's But we are the 6th most watched club in GB, we have LOTS of fixtures rearranged for TV, usually 12:15 kickoff Crowd attendances are usually crap because people have to travel directly from work.

I'd love to know why the scum (Man U) have post-millennium for the most part played on a Sunday. When i was a kid they played on Saturday with everyone else, and Sunday was for teams to catch up and avoid fixture congestion. Thats Sky's power on show.

They are considering a winter break here, because our infrastructure cant cope with the travel, and also the pitches get frozen and not every club has undersoil heating. Plus, with all these cups, players just need rest. I've seen young players careers ruined from lack of rest, just because they can play frequently, doesn't mean they should.

I hope somewhere in this essay is some information that is relevant haha.

      Re: Schedules

So I understand what you said but I have noticed also when I play that they schedule a ton of games in a row. For instance I had 4 games in 7 days and they weren't even spread apart. I had two back to back then 2 days later another one then 2 more days later another one.

back to back games never happens, muscles would tear off the bone. I have never seen this personally in the game - the career I'm playing follows the standard procedure of Saturday and midweek. What league are you in?

I wonder if Ferguson's initiation into the Aristocracy, crowned as sir, has exerted a strong influence onto his career by endowing him with priviliges of the sort.

Excellently informative post by the way.

Thanks Im just glad i don't have to watch his stupid antics at the end of the game, tapping his watch. At least some ref's had the balls to admit that Whiskeynose put them under a lot of pressure to make calls in their favour.

I see games being scheduled for no reason and have open weekends they could have put games, but I feel if you are winning the computer intentionally reschedules games to make it harder on you
