I do like to buy the youngsters when they are cheaper and sell when they get older. Buy cheap, sell high.
So I should just leave at default 0-5 then?

I had never really thought of not using the suspended player for 3 games for a red card.

i'm pretty sure an accumulation of yellows is only a 2 game ban though?

I will be incorporating these into my game tonight when i get started.

I also kind of agree and disagree with the over 30's, i like to keep some around, experience and the like, especially if it's my captain, which to me doesnt matter on position, there should be 11 leaders on the pitch

In all my years of playing fifa, i have never went a top club in career mode, i really dont see the point. there is nothing more satisfying than unearthing some affordable gems for your lower league team, building them up and beating the big, free spending clubs!

Default for the 22 and younger.
0-1 years on contract to 22 and older (I include 22 on this group also because they might turn 23 before the January window).

Because EA has assigned almost every player with a crucial or important role in their contract, I resign everyone that isn't important with no role.........boo
I'm left with a limited budget after the "re-sign."
I go and get a 3/5 star youth scout or two. Only 3* experience because I don't look for specific ability. Experience=skill set, judgment=potential.
Sign no more than 2 free transfers in January.
Buy no more than 3 players in January.
Sign and keep no more than 2 youth players after May.
I target one player in the summer.
Any player on your team is open for a good buy out.
If you get a buy out, sign a replacement.
          Repeat.........
If and when you have extra money, up grade and add scouts.
I use to never use the GTN scouts, but I use them to scout:
1)0-1 year contracts........first team quality......23-27 age, for my free transfers
2)16-22 age........promising, for my buy ins.
I think of my players as stock. Buy cheap and sell high. Try to get to 42 on your roster and loan anyone not playing a role on your team. That will keep them growing. Never loan to your league. Keep 25ish in your team (loan the rest). If you get in injury trouble, re-call a loan.
I do use sofifa.com to verify potential. I add likely prospects to my short list. ONLY THE PLAYERS WHO POP UP! I say that because as you get extra money, you can buy 6 GTN scouts. With 6, you can expanded your reach and player pool.

My silly rules. Not the greatest, but I like them!
Giving this a bump for anyone interested.

          Good stuff!

For a good challenge I use these:

-Never use any top tier team as they start with high budget, wages, scouts, and good players so not really challenging.
-A good limit is start with a team with a transfer budget under $1m a good example is Chesterfield who are expected to finish high and there's bunch of other teams in League one with higher budgets.
-Don't use any site like Sofifa.com to cheat and get potential /stats that should be found by your scouts in game. Kinda takes away challenge of findng good young players when u just go on Sofifa.com and see all cheap players that have huge potential.
            - never reload youth players when signed or monthly reports to get better players.
            - Never use loan glitch to up players potential
            - never use catalog items financial takeover or scout a youth gem.
            - never sign any Precontracts with players that would drop a league or would never be a real life target same with free agents as you have no competition to sign free agents.
            - team be considered a seller until you reach Premier league so any offer above transfer price accept unless team offering is rival, in same league or a lower club.
            - only resign 1 top player before end of January leaving open risk of players signing Precontracts to leave not only sign Precontracts.
            - increase youth scouts with extra budget as you will be a team relying on youth and need to sell the players and need decent players plus need to fill in for players lost.
