    Taking a short break...

Recently I’m taking a break from FIFA.

I play it all the time, day and night - when I’m not at work - and yes I have fun but it’s not productive for me. I have moments where I want to play it, whilst I don't think it's a waste of time, there’s no real reward from playing FIFA 6-8 hours a day!

Plus it’s extremely frustrating for me to play as Nottingham Forest - my hometown team - and take them to the Premier League, get them back in Europe, win everything with them and build for the future. Then, I turn on Match of the Day (UK TV programme) and see that they’re losing games to Middlesborough and Birmingham City in real life. I just wish they would do well in real life!

But getting back to FIFA, I’ve always loved FIFA, I grew up with it and like every child from the UK, football or “soccer” as most of you guys know it as, it’s in our blood, just like football / American football is to you guys.

My main issue is with Career Mode. More emphasis seems to be put into FIFA Ultimate Team, than it does in other game modes.
I’d say there is a solid group of gamers who love to play Career Mode and only Career Mode. Like myself. But it gets boring and repetitive. You finish a season, you win everything and then it’s on to the next one. But then the next season, it’s almost as if all of your wins seem like they never existed! There’s no mention of the “reigning champs” or any stars added on shirts to reflect winning in Europe or the Premier League. Nothing.

What excites me the most though is the youth academy. Last year I had so much fun developing young players for my Manchester United team and building for the future, with young stars constantly emerging from the YA.

But this year, the physical stats glitch bothers me, the fact that you can’t just search for Defenders, Midfielders, Attackers and Forwards bothers me and in some countries the name glitch bothers me. Why when I want to search for a striker do I have to search for "Technically Gifted" as opposed to an "Attacker". When I think technically gifted I think of midfielders and central attacking midfields. Xavi, Iniesta, David Silva. When I think attacker, I think Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar.

There’s other issues too, like every team plays the exact same way, they just line up differently.

I had a lot of excitement for FIFA 15 as I thought it was going to be the best FIFA title ever. In some ways it is. I like how the goalkeepers have been revamped, the fully fledged licence for the Barclays Premier League is amazing! And ball physics are great. But it’s pretty much the exact same game as FIFA 14!

So, for a little while, I’m taking a break. The reason I posted this is because I just wanted to see if other players felt the same way? What would it take for EA Sports to address big user issues and listen to their fans. Other developers seem to do that?

    For sure, my friend!

I started getting bored near the end of my first season with Burton Albion in League 2.

I enjoyed the challenge of it. But Fifa does get repetitive very quickly playing the CPU. And the career mode glitches are super annoying, just like you mentioned.

Ehh, if I want an in-depth career mode I'll play Football Manager. I like fifa for its gameplay, but I go into it knowing that's exactly what I want from fifa so it doesn't bother me that its career mode is lackluster.

I totally get where you're coming from. however, no wonder you're taking a break playing it that much.

I am maybe only playing my ps4 between 2 -6 hours a week tops. i havent actually played fifa since before xmas either and i'm looking forward to getting back into it.

Football is repetitive though, and alot of (not all) teams play the same these days, there is what seems to be a global playing style now, and its not the best.

A little break always helps though, look forward to getting the bug back.

I try to ignore the glitches, concentrate on building the best team i can and winning it all!

Where I find this game annoying is that the CPU cheats. I wish they would make better AI that doesn't resort to making your goalkeeper stand still so the CPU can score.

This is the best ever FIFA mind you, so much fun to play, especially against a human opponent.

I agree with career mode. It is really good but they really need to put more restrictions on which players move to which teams so it is harder to build superteams.

There needs to be a preset youth intake from your club's country every season, like on Football Manager. This would be simulated for other clubs too, which would largely get rid of the issue where clubs' nationalities get diluted over time.

It's about time there was proper stat tracking as well. If I want to see who the top scorer in the Bundesliga is when I'm playing as Man Utd then I should be able to. I want to see a player's career history.

They should also include milestones like in FM so you can break club records.
