    CPU Cheating (14 v 15)

The way that I get robbed in FIFA15 seems to be a lot different than the way I used to get robbed in FIFA14. I get it - every once in a while the CPU is going to beat me - no matter what I do - because that is how things work in FIFA-land.

In FIFA14: I would dominate the CPU ... I would have greater than 60% possession, I would put 15 shots on target, the majority of the match would be played while I was in the attacking third ... but the CPU GK would finish with a World-Cup record 14 saves or something ... the CPU would score twice from their three total shots on goal ... and I would lose 1-2 or something like that. It was *super* annoying ... but at least I was doing well to own the match.

Another thing the REALLY bothered me last year was the "instant goal" ... you know ... when the CPU answers within two minutes right after you score ... it could be the 75th minute, and the CPU could have no shots throughout the entire match, but immediately following the kick-off after you have finally broken through to take the lead, the CPU slaloms straight through your defense (hot knife through butter) and levels straight away with the next shot on target (their *first* shot on target).

In FIFA15: The "cheating" seems to be farther upstream ... so that the end-game box score does not look so much like the HUM got jobbed ... I have far fewer shots and much less possession (because of the superior / otherworldly tackling and defense that the CPU maintains, especially in the attacking third), I am getting out-tackled 2:1 in most matches, I have countless passes that go to no one in particular or out of bounds, my teammates (on both offense and defense) spend A LOT of time milling around and *not* going after a loose ball - even if it is rolling right past them, I am constantly in need of support when I do get into the offensive end ("where are my teammates?" is something I am always wondering). So now - if you look at only the box score - of course I got beat - I only have three shots in the entire match (against the CPU with eight or ten shots), I only have possession for less than 10% on time in the attacking third.

I am not really sure about the "instant goal" in FIFA15 ... I score so rarely that I do not have enough data about how quickly the CPU answers following a HUM goal ... there are not enough HUM goals for me to work with. Womp womp.

I am roughly a third of the way through each of my two career modes ... after a total of 24 matches played I stand at [ 3 - 4 - 17 ... 12 scored ... 47 allowed ]. I am not getting routed in every match ... that works out to an average score of CPU 2.0 / HUM 0.5 ... I am usually in the game ... but I lose nearly every time ... I have been shut out in 17 of those 24 matches.

I do not know what to do about this ... just wanted a place to be grumpy for a bit. Thanks ...
New to FIFA23 ... did not care for FIFA22 ... after having played FIFA19 for the previous three years!

    Re: CPU Cheating (14 v 15)

It is just the way fifa rolls.

They seem to have a terrible time figuring out how to make the single player experience fair.

I believe it is because they want this to be a fut game or a hum v hum game.

Solo v cpu is always the thing ignored.

You can see it plainly in the fact that all teams play alike which lets one player use plymouth argyle and one player use real madrid and have a similar chance at winning, except online everyone uses real madrid.

But this means solo you are just playing one game after another where the cpu plays the same. Star players are not fed the ball because everyone on the pitch can dribble like neymar so why would cpu barca bother passing it to him?

This game is so close to being great. But it isnt because it lacks any sense of individualism with the teams.

Even if they just created 50 different cpu playing styles in terms of speed of buildup, when they choose to shoot, how much they dribble, field spacing, wings, diag or center focus, etc.that would be a start...

But nope. I played the cambridge man utd matchup and cambridge were as adept as chelsea.

It just makes the game incredibly boring because star players arent threats, great teams dont dominate you the way you see them dominate teams IRL.

I was watching sevilla espanyol on bein today and it was plain to see that both teams methodical play and searching forward passes are completely absent in fifa.

I have no idea what the answer is.

I do know 15 is better than 14 because they took the human teams ST's and moved them back 2 feet from their post up spot they stood in 14 and now you get 89% less offside calls called on you each match because their movement now starts farther back. A welcome change.

    Thats not enough change though.

The whole "instant goal" thing is a little tricky. I personally have not experienced it much. It's always been said that the two most dangerous points in a game is right after you score, or when you are up by 2.

As far as the CPU tackling, it drives me crazy how it always seems to somehow get an angle to get the ball.

Something else that drove me crazy is that I could have a break away, yet a slow defender seems to always catch up to a speedy winger. To resolve this I set the CPU speed to 40 and the HUM speed to 43 with acceleration at 50 for both.

      Handballs need to be patched!

Another thing about cpu d getting the angle on the ball.

If you use the b button to push and pull defend you will notice there are all these tussle and fight animations and it looks pretty cool.

Its a real shame the cpu wont use b button. If ea toned down the toe pokes maybe they would, but I think they havent assigned any of the push and pull animations to be initiated by the cpu.

When I use the b button, I sometimes grab the cpu, shoulder charge, swim move to get advantage, foul, just disrupt but don't win the ball, etc.

It looks like the game of proper football. But the cpu defenders
        wont use b button!!!!

But again, the way its coded with the cpu having almost a 100% success rate with toe pokes why would they use b button push and pull tackling?

The cpu is too reliant on dribbling needlessly on O and toe poking on D. Every cpu controlled team.

          Re: CPU Cheating (14 v 15)

One of my biggest pet peeves is how quick the AI transitions from offense to defense and back, while your own team takes forever. The AI will make the perfect clearance to their only forward player, and suddenly its a 4 on 3 break as all his teammates sprint up field. If you somehow manage to clear the ball to your striker, you'll find yourself standing around with no one to pass to as you get swarmed by 6 defenders. This seems to be regardless of tactical setting or mentality.

I hate that the CPU can slide tackle from behind with a huge success rate. This is virtually impossible and yet the CPU will do it all game. doubly bad is that slide tackles seem to cause more injuries than other plays, so the CPU often gets to injure your players but not the other way around.

I also hate that the CPU offense seems to rely primarily on wonky player switching. The classic is the CPU passes around the box for like 5 minutes and waits for your player switch to take you to someone worthless, behind the play or not the defender that makes sense, and gets and opening and scores.

A big reason for the 'teammates standing around' syndrome is that EA decided that players should do more on defense this year. To make that work, they made all your AI teammates morons. I have seen the CPU easily dribble around two world class AI defenders and they don't even make the slightest effort to stay in front.

All the teams do play pretty much the same, though I have noticed world class strikers have a better chance of scoring from outside the box or from crazy volleys or headers.

            Re: CPU Cheating (14 v 15)

            Definitely what you wrote.

And wow, the contain button. In my opinion from playing the sport and watching it, contain/support, particularly in instances where you are pressuring the ball while holding the contain button to get CPU controlled defender help, this should be bracketing.

As in you play his left side and I will play his right and now we shepherd the player away by denying the attacker a right or left attacking move.

But if you pay attention to the contain system your CPU controlled player is instructed to follow you not the ball. What?

Defend the ball on the wing, go out and contain and also hold RB to get teammate help. If you dare to over pursue to the touchline (which you should be able to do since you have teammate help) you will get burnt because your help defender will just follow behind you idiotically and the cpu attacker will cut infield behind him and use him as a shield to then freely make an attacking diagonal run.

It in fact, is harmful to use RB contain in so many circumstances because of how stupid EA made your defenders.

Their logic is more geared to body tackling the player you are controlling then it is to just contain help your controlled defender as you pressure the ball.

I only play single player and the thing that bothers me is the CPU controlling your players and the referee.

Like sometimes I would have a great angle to tackle the CPU attacker but suddenly my players start moving in the wrong direction and the computer player scores a easy goal.

And also the referee will make some flat out stupid penalty calls to help the computer, while almost never giving penalty shots to the user.

Most of the game physics feel realistic, but...

I hate it how the human player will easily overrun the ball and seemingly take forever to recover, same thing when both players go down in a collision or you try a slide tackle. CPU gets back up and into the flow of the game a lot faster than the human player.
