    Re: #changecareermode

I’ve enjoyed the FIFA Manager Career for many years now, but I only really got involved with it last year and this year. Overall I would say FIFA 15 is one of the best FIFA games I’ve ever played, however, there are a lot of improvements that need to be made, especially in career mode.

A lot of the EA developers for FIFA spend a lot of time on FIFA Ultimate Team which has no interest to me.

My passion when I play FIFA is to take a lower league team to the top, develop youth players and face challenges. And I think that’s one of the big problems with career mode for me, you go through an entire season, you win the league, the FA Cup, maybe in Europe and yes you have a celebration sequence after but then after that, it’s almost as if it didn’t happen! When in real life when a team wins the Premier League, it’s a big deal. It’s like a NFL team winning the Super Bowl.

Really I’d say EA need to throw career mode back on the drawing board and say what are our strengths and weaknesses? Youth Academy is massive! And I think it should be built around that. Especially with the rise of youth academy players making their way into the first team and having a huge impact, you look at Manchester United and Barcelona.

So I’m saying U21 competitive matches. Not just friendlies but the U21 Premier League Cup or the International Cup. Let the youth players grow and develop in their and once you have a player you want to sign maybe you have to fight for him as other professional teams have scouted him and are offering him contracts. But your team has a slight edge because he’s in your youth academy.
Obviously you could choose to play these games or skip them. Same with “friendly” matches and pre-season games. I think pre-season is a waste of time as well and should be gotten rid of.

From there you can begin to build on the game, incorporating a longer career mode, 25 years would be nice. 15 comes and goes too quickly for hardcore FIFA career gamers.

Perhaps add classic matches or do something similar like Madden Moments. UEFA Champions League 1999 Man Utd vs Bayern Munich, England 1966. At the very least it would be nice for all Premier League teams to have classic kits. And yes, as a Manchester United fan I’d love to have a few of their old kits!

Another idea for career mode, but too ambitious for FIFA would be to have something like NBA 2Ks player mode. Where you create a player and it’s almost like GTA having real interviews, press conferences and discussions with your GM. I’d like to see myself as the manager of Manchester United, in talks with Ed Woodward and the Glaziers about who they want to bring in. I want to see myself in the dressing room at half time giving a team talk to motivate them. I want to see my reactions to goals scored or conceded on the sideline. That would be awesome! But it’s too difficult for you so don’t worry about that as FIFA fans we expect the bare minimum effort.

I could go on but this thread is already picking up momentum. So those are a couple of my ideas.
    Three Time Super Bowl Champions.
    New England Patriots.
    2001 (XXXVI), 2003 (XXXVIII), 2004 (XXXIX)

This is what I want to see change the most... It's something that is CRIMINALLY overlooked by developers of sports games. There is always JUST ONE animation for every sports game's championships. This means for each time I win any type of cup, whether it's the World Cup, Champions League, or the damn Community Shield (which is a glorified friendly), everyone acts the EXACT SAME. So frustrating to play every game of a season (especially with an unlikely team) and then once you reach the payoff the announcers and the players both act as if they expected it and you see the same animations you've seen a million times. They made progress this year by introducing the podium to the game, but some variation would be so crucial.

I won the Champions League with Aston Villa in year three of my CM, with a rather sub-par squad, and Alan Smith was saying "They came into the tournaments as one of the favorites, but actually executing is different"... OK, sure, a 4 star Aston Villa team was really a favorite to win the Champions League.

The only other thing that really bothers me during Career Mode is how during the beginning to middle of the season, the narrative is always the exact same. In year 6 of my Villa CM, I had won the UCL a couple times, I had made so much money that I was able to buy superstars and had a couple of big-named guys like Hazard and Pogba join me once their contracts expired. Essentially what I'm trying to say is I turned the squad into a powerhouse. But still, every time the season restarts, there's Martin Tyler and Alan Smith talking about the hard times that Villa has fell on, yearning for the days of old when they were good and management spent money. That's insane. Don't talk about the 2013-14 season in 2020!

There were a lot of other good suggestions in this thread, I'd love to see some attention brought to the few weak links of an otherwise brilliant game. MLB The Show Devs tend to really shine light on stuff they need to and I'd love to see FIFA devs come and actually give this game a little transparency.
