I think they need to do this career mode more like Madden does it with the connected careers (Madden is not perfect by any means don't get me wrong but the basic concept I mean).
For people who don't want to worry about getting sacked and just want to play with one team, you should be able to do an owner/club mode where you basically own the club. You should be able to hire/fire managers, etc. I'm not too big on maintaining stadiums and what not, but some basic options there would be fine.
For people who want to play as a manager you could either create your manager or select an already existing one (so if you want to be Pep or Jose you could, etc) and it would basically be the same as manager mode is now.
Then of course the player mode.
And you should be able to have a player, owner, and manager in the same career save like Madden does with the connected careers.
I realize with many, many more teams and leagues than Madden that might be more of a pipe dream than anything. But at the very least they could at least let you be the owner (without the connected career part of it)
