So I want to sign a player I brought up through my youth squad, he is 16 right now. I tried to offer him a contract and the "agent" suggested a one year deal but I found I wasn't able to increase this at all, it wouldn't let me. I signed him figuring I could just offer a longer contract immediately but in the contracts screen he has the note "accepted contract this season" (or whatever it says).
So I signed a youth player for one year, am UNABLE to offer him a longer deal and his contract will just expire at the end of the year?
I didn't like this because of course he's the most talented player my youth program has produced so I went back to a previous save and he's still in the youth squad now.
Has anyone experienced this before? will it change once he turns 17 maybe?
