What are your Go To moves to shake a defender?

I'm a novice player trying to improve, and I'm having difficulty when attacking trying to shake defenders - both in the middle of the field and on the wings trying to free up for a cross. I'm not ready for complicated skill moves but was looking for a few tried and true moves to free up my player to either deliver a pass/cross, beat the defender, or get off a shot. What works well for you guys? I'm playing mainly on semi-pro and professional difficulty (PS4).

#1 and super simple is precision dribbling.

Just pull in both triggers and that's it, move about with the L stick while still holding those triggers in.

If you want to bolt away, just release the LT.

Easiest method is to come up the pitch, press both triggers and backtrack, shuffle somewhere safe.

Even though off ball runs are better this year it's only sorta true. Frequently you need to squeeze both triggers just to hold up play and wait and wait until someone on your team realizes you are attacking and makes a run.

You can use this dribbling with any player.

completely agree with this. It is very simple and very effective. Also, FIFA 16 is so much different than previous fifas in terms of pace and AI defending. Try and slow down a bit. Dont make long passes, keep it short and sweet and move up the field. Using both trigger buttons works wonders. Especially in the box. Do a little fake shot, use the triggers to get in good position and you should be able to have a nice path for a good shot

The simple Ball Roll is this years 2015 body feint in terms of being potentially OP.

This is another move any player is capable of. Whatever direction your player is oriented it's left or right on the RS held briefly.

It's the only skill on the RS that auto repeats (meaning if you keep the RS to the right you will ball roll in a complete circle eventually and keep ball rolling) so the "trick" is to learn how, and it's super easy, to hold it long enough to do 1 ball roll.

This year, to make any of the skill stick moves effective you need to perform them farther away from the defender.

Watch the distance I perform them in this vid, about 25 seconds in...

Pass... as you can move a football on the ground or through the air quicker than humans or AI CPU folks can run.

I like the feints if one must take another one v one. L2 and R2 combo as said by others.

If beyond the defense then use right stick and quick tap it forward to push ball out infront of you. It helps you keep speed, that is normally lost during tight dribbling.

I was struggling until I read this. I have only messed around with it for a bit in the skills trainer but I already notice a huge difference. Thank you for the suggestions.

This is my go to move along with the shot fake and cross fake but yes I do this more than both of those.. it's basically how you dribble in this game. Imo everyone who plays this game should be doing this because this is part of being a good dribbler.. if your not doing this then you are not even an average dribbler at best. You need to start doing this in every match you play.

the ball roll I'm going to start putting in my game. I have being playing a lot of online pro clubs and co-op and 1 v 1 and all these moves works great against human defenders as well.. I have noticed the ball roll beating me easy sometimes when defending making me look stupid so yes I'm going to start making sure I can do that with ease.

I thought the ball roll was super overpowered last year as well. I used it all the time against humans, and again at CPU in their box, too easy.

another tip to practice dribbling and moves is instead of going to the practice arena..

start new game at kick off.. using your default camera you are use to using..

and put difficulty on beginner and select braca and play against a team in the 3 DIV or something

you will have all time on the ball to do your moves and practice them and make sure you can do them with ease the same way you do in a game

this is a lot more effective to practice your moves imo because you are using the same camera you normally use. in the the practice arena you gotta do moves going up which is pointless because once you get into a game everything is different..

trust me.. the way I mentioned above is a lot better for practicing moves vs going to the practice arena... try it out

Yeah the 1v1 arena is the worst.

Its main point was as a hub to get to the meat and potatoes practice match options.

The practice match is data they left on the disc but whoever redesigned the gui mapped the song select to the button that pulls up the match practice options.

Two years of letting EA know this every possible way I am capable of and still no practice match mode.

You can learn the moves and write them down for reference as I did; or you can try my alternative method and surprise yourself with any combination which will produce some result. Regardless of the outcome, the game is a blast.

Not that type of player, I rarely take on players always pass around or hoof it and get onto second balls.

I use the advanced shooting drill (skill challenge) to practice before matches. It uses a similar camera to what I use in the game and it helps me work on the offense part of the game, which is my worst skill.

Saucer, are you just going to that skill game in the skill game section or can you somehow choose what skill game appears pre-match?
