Exactly. It really kind of defeats the purpose of scouting because you're not going to get to stay around and play with the guys you like. Which is one of the funner aspects of the mode. I'm way more into managing a team I built rather than getting fired by an artificial boss because he says I'm not over achieving enough. I already risk that everyday at work.

For all the things that aren't simulation in this game, this should be one of them.

Not true. It doesn't defeat the purpose, it removes the most frustrating aspect of it that isn't exactly necessary in a video game.

Again, it should be an option. Not taking away from those that want to play realistically and get sacked.

The best thing EA could do here is not an option to disable/enable firing. Instead, they should have custom level of board strictness, just like in finances... a Strict board would fire you for not achieving the goals, and a lenient board should fire only on extreme situations, like if you´re suposed to qualify for europe but instead you finish in 13th... The base is there, they just have to program these parameters. It´s damn easy, there´s no big science behind it. I mean, on lowest level they just have to let you keep your job if you are 5 places behind your objective in the final league standings for instance. I mean, even an easy patch would solve this...

Totally agree. I think there are many things that seems quite simple to add but it makes you wonder why they don't. I can't imagine that logic touches a whole lot of the code base. Although, I'm not sure it's as easy as adding it in a patch, especially considering the priorities they have. But the best thing is to add that difficulty as an option as well as an option to disable because why not? People play and expect differently. And, it's 2015.

Maybe we'll get it in a DLC or something down the road!

I'm pretty sure this actually was actually an option that you set a few versions back.

The fact that they fixed the workaround of having a weak squad to get lower expectations makes me sad. Anyone who says it's not realistic to not get fired is only looking at a certain set of managers.

Guess what? If I want to play as Arsenal, I shouldn't have to win the league each year, because we have a pretty large sample size showing that they're not going to fire their manager for failing to meet that task.

The issue isn't that it's Manager Mode, because it's not—it's billed as Career Mode, but some of us don't want it to be a career.

I have no interest in starting as an unknown manager and switching jobs through the course of one save file.

The fact that there isn't an option for both is absurd.

Exactly. Getting fired and generally hating myself is what FM is for. Just give me the option to just enjoy the live EPL experience and have it be all butterflies and roses from the board room.

For what it's worth, I finished 2nd in the EPL with Chelsea in my first season and got bounced in the round of 16 in the Champions League and I was allowed to hang around for another season.

That figures. I just found out about the workaround and now the "fixed" it. This defeats the whole purpose of scouting a youth squad etc since you are eventually almost guaranteed to be fired.

I understand the threat of being fired in a manager mode, but obviously something is missing from the game since so many of us would just like to control and build up a team for multiple seasons. Either there should be a different game mode (owner mode), or the option to turn off firing.

Btw, why on earth did they remove this option?

It definitely seems to be more difficult to get fired this year. I played with Liverpool last year, had a rough start, got a warning, won four games in a row ... sacked. This year I played as Liverpool, underscoring, poor results, boatloads of ties, and not even a warning going into my 16th game. I sat at 15th at that point.
